Try a different shampoo that has ammonium lauryl sulfate in it rather than ammonium laureth sulfate, as this ingredient has been known to irritate the scalp more than the former ingredient. Look for Paul Mitchell shampoos and other high quality brands. You may also want to try T-Gel.
