Young and losing it fast

Hi all,
thought i would introduce myself. I'm 20 years old, will be 21 on the 20th, American. Hair loss runs on both sides of my family. My hair has been thinning for at least a couple years now but I would say it has slowed recently due to 5% Rogaine foam. However it is still thinning and I figure eventually I will have a shiny head like my father in a matter of years if I don't act now.

I would say I'm quite healthy...I eat right and workout religiously (cardio, weights...) I also have a very high libido, strong erections and thick, high volume semen for the moment.

HOWEVER I have made the decision to begin finasteride and continue Rogaine despite the horror stories I have read. I am still waiting for my first shipment of finasteride to arrive but until then I thought I would start this topic with various before photos all taken the same day under various light.

I really don't like the idea of taking daily medication for long term but it seems to be the most effective method of prevention and possible regrowth for the moment...I really do hope a safe and effective cure is released soon :punk:

about how long do you guys think it will take me to recover from this point? I used to have beautiful long curly hair and I want to grow it back out :(

Hey,

The good news is that you still have your hairline in tact. You are a diffuse thinner, which is bad and good at the same time. Bad, because Hair transplant might not be an option in the future, but good because it seems like diffuse thinners respond really well to medication like propecia and minoxidil, at least based on the cases that I have seen.

The horror stories are there about Propecia, but it seems like a vocal minority more than anything else. You will probably experience weaker ejaculations and more watery semen as that seems to be a pretty common side effect, but other than that you should be good.

Give finasteride at least a year, don't worry if you start shedding and your hair starts looking like crap all of the sudden, it's normal and is a sign that the medications are working.

Being dependent on finasteride is not a big thing. All you have to do is pop a pill once a day which only takes a second. Not a big deal at all.

I would also introduce Nizoral shampoo to your regimen.

My hair loss is very similar to yours, diffuse all over in a NW6 pattern and I also started balding at 19/20. It's good your finally getting on finasteride, that'll most likely slow down your thinning for a while and possibly get you some re-growth.

But you have to be realistic as far results though, it's possible you'll get back the density you had before your male pattern baldness kicked in but it's just as possible the meds will only prevent further thinning.
