"As a rule, one would not need to use finasteride (Propecia TM) if using Xandrox."

That's off of minoxidil.com

What's the deal with that? Sounds a little too good to be true. Do any of you use it, and how does it compare to regular minoxidil?

That quote would surprise me... are you sure of the context of his response?

I went to the Xandrox FAQ page on the Dr Lee website (http://www.minoxidil.com/faq.htm#XANDROX 12.5% LOTION) and found the following reference:

Q. Should I continue to take finasteride to lower the DHT level in the body?

A. Finasteride works systemically and will lower the serum level of DHT. Xandrox works only where it is applied. It may be advantageous to continue taking finasteride to protect the hair on the scalp not yet affected by male pattern baldness, but which remains 'at risk.' For patients with large areas of thinning hair, it may be advantageous to take finasteride in addition to using Xandrox 5% solution.

Q. But will it be harmful to use Xandrox solutions and continue to take oral finasteride?

A. Not at all. There are no contraindications to using both and it may be advantageous.
