XANDROX 15%?!?! ARE THEY ON CRACK?

Q. Should one use the 5% Spironolactone Lotion in conjunction with Xandrox15?

A. For most patients, it shouldn’t be necessary. The azelaic acid in Xandrox15 inhibits the synthesis of DHT in almost all cases. However, if one opts to use a 5% minoxidil solution without azelaic acid for the second application of the day, then the additional use of the 5% Spironolactone Lotion is advisable. Most patients use the 5% Spironolactone Lotion at night. Apply the Xandrox15 solution first. Allow 10-15 minutes for it to partially dry. And then apply a thin film of 5% Spironolactone Lotion directly on top of the Xandrox15.

Q. Should a patient initiate treatment for male pattern baldness with Xandrox15?

A. No. As a rule, most patients will have a satisfactory response to Xandrox 5% solutions or to the combination of a 5% Minoxidil solution with the use of the 5% Spironolactone Lotion. If, after at least six months of treatment with either of these regimes, the improvement is not satisfactory, then the patient may want to consider the use of Xandrox15 on those areas of the scalp with inadequate regrowth of hair.

The second reason why a patient should not begin treatment of male pattern baldness with Xandrox15 is because topical minoxidil can allow hair that is already in the telogen phase to shed before the end of the phase. Although the hair is replaced, hopefully with thicker hair, the observation of increased shedding, however temporary, may have a psychologically damaging effect.
-------------------------------------------------------

What I dont get is when he says if you dont get a decent amount of regrowth with regular xandrox 5%, then you should add Xandrox 15% like at 6 months. Why dont you use Xandrox 15% and save your time, and be sure to get the best amount of regrowth possible?

Thats a fair price, for such concentrated sh*t. Although wouldn't putting 3x the amount of Xandrox 5% be the same thing as one time with the 15%? Theoretically speaking yes.

why do you think no one else is bumping the minoxidil levels up past the 5%?
Quite simply because it may be too much for your scalp to handle. the 12% xandrox has reported a high rate of unsatisfied customers due to its extremely strong potency. Many people can barely handle the 5% minoxidil. 15% may just be too much to start out with. This is also probably why he suggests working your way up only if you dont see results.

lol prolly. You would think with all the money hes making he could afford a better website.

Ive been using minoxidil 5% for almost 2 months andi have no irritation or anything. I think I would be a canidate for the Xandrox 15%. I used Xandrox 5% for the first time 2day and had no problems yet. Gunna give that a couple days 2 judge.

No, it wouldn't be. Since minoxidil isn't absorbed into the scalp on it's own, the higher the concentration of the drug in it's penetrating vehicle (alcohol) the greater total absorption of the drug. You'd need to apply 3 times more of the drug itself, not 3 times the entire solution. Your head can only absorb so much before it's saturated.

I see, I asked because he has that question in his Q & A that Bomb posted and the answer was interesting. Not the answer you gave Sting which is what I thought to.

Younguy be careful with the 15% if you burn your scalp you could damage your existing hairline permanently.

minoxidil isn't caustic. It's not the drug that causes the irritation in it's full anyways, it's the Polypropylene glycol.

Well, higher % of minoxidil might increase the risk of side effects assoc. with minoxidil like an elevated heartrate, etc. For some people, 5% has this unfortunate effect, so they can't go beyond the 2% concoction.

Topical minoxidil solutions based on propylene glycol (including both the 2% and 5% versions of Rogaine) probably end up in the scalp the same, as saturated solutions of minoxidil in propylene glycol. So in that one special case, it probably IS just a matter of how much of the solution you apply (up to the limit of what can be absorbed by the skin, of course), rather than some extra potency that's allegedly inherent in the 5% solution, but not in the 2% solution.

Bryan,

Is Glycerin as good of a transport mechanism as PG? I can't take PG because I have an allergic reaction to it.

Also note it seems that this 15% solution only contains *Glycerin*

FROM THE FAQ:
Q. Why use glycerin instead of the propylene glycol that is used in most minoxidil preparations?

A. A significant number of patients, perhaps as many as 10%, have an adverse skin reaction to propylene glycol. On the other hand, it would be extremely rare to have an adverse reaction to glycerin, which is commonly used in dermatological preparations as a humectant. Humectants attract moisture to one’s skin. Glycerin based soaps are offered at exclusive spas and resorts for this very reason.

In her book "A Consumer's Dictionary of Food Additives" (which in turn is probably lifted straight out of the Merck Index), Ruth Winter states that propylene glycol "...permeates better through the skin than glycerin...", so I think that PG _may_ be a better solvent for minoxidil than glycerin, at least for topical application to human scalps. OTOH, glycerin apparently is able to dissolve a higher concentration of minoxidil than PG, so which one is really better for our special purpose is anyone's guess!

this stuff is crazy.

nobody should put this stuff on their scalp unless they are certain they can tolerate it!

whatever you do, dont just "upgrade" to this unless you've been using 5% minoxidil for a long time with no results.

I think it would be very easy for people to overdose on this stuff even those that arent prone to side effects.

HairLossTalk.com - that is what I though as well, regarding not being able to handle it...seems crazy that Dr. Lee (this is not to be interpreted negatively opinionated) who has his semi-independent website boosts levels to 3x the amount of more mainstream companies...

youngguy - I hate that website..he needs to overhaul it. I would do it for him in a heartbeat for some discounts. The thing is more navigationally confusing than I can begin to speak of.

either way - right or wrong - the commentary is good, and seeing others opinions to help build a knowledgeable decision is what this is all about.

and redbone - in another thread someone mentioned your speak of your ding dong..well - I got on arginine for the benefit of rocket fuel load blasting, and its hair potential second..all thanks to you...havent seen the peter north style loads yet, but I am waiting.....oh yes, i am waiting.

Ahhh crud on a spud y'alls. I have to order some more of lee's 5% and now I can't decide if I should drop the extra $88 on the x15 or not.

My 8+ months on minoxidil has been doing great for me but I could use some extra help along the hairline.

Damn decisions... I donno if the stuff's worth trying or not now.

Weep for me.
