Been using Min for about 4-5 months.

This is what my hair looked like 3 months ago:

After cutting and regrowing, this is what it looked like a month later:

WTF happened?? Is it a shed?? Can I ever go back to the point I was at in the first pic, which was just in January? I started finasteride about a week ago.

Thanx for sharing. Because your hair length is altered it is difficult to ascertain a true comparison. If you are monitoring your hair status (as you should be), you more than likely would know whether you are shedding. If this is the case then the minoxidil is doing what it is expected to do and this considered a normal response. Will you return to your questionable baseline with minoxidil.5% alone? It's possible, but realistically only time will tell. You need to follow it's instructions (2xp/d) on a consistent basis and remember that it can require you to wait over 1 year to see a noticeable improvement. It is a life long commitment. If you begin to harbor doubts concerning it's efficacy you may want look into adding finasteride( a.k.a.Propecia,Avodart,Finpecia,etc.,)as a complimentary defense to minoxidil. Anecdotal evidence is accumulating that the two (together) may act more effectively. Do your research, keep your chin up, and I wish you all the best.

Thank you. I've added finasteride recently. I'm concerned that my widows peak is starting to recede back. But I guess you're right, time will tell -- it's really difficult being patient.

Wwow, wtf?? are you saying that minoxidil causes shedding and its not 100% sure that it will go back to the way it was before he started minoxidil??

So minoxidil basically sheds your hair and may not bring it back to the way it was before you started?? Please correct me if i missunderstood what u said cuz

TO be fair, that before shot was AFTER minoxidil for 3 months. Before I started Minoxidil, my hair was much, much worse than both of those photos.

It is very hard to tell. In first picture, the room is much darker, in the second looks like you stand under bright light coming from your right..
First picture:hair is a bit longer
It would be perfectly fine for hair in the second picture, unde rother light/styling conditions, to look like in the first.
Very simple: Those thin pathes above temples can be covered with hair from sides.(sort of comb-over).
In fact, many guys have temples much worse than yours, but they grow bangs from sides and disguise them perfectly. This works well if the thin patches are not too big and rest of hair is thick.
So no big difference. Keep the treatment! And if you want to compare, take pictures with:
-same lighting
-same hair length
-same hair styling
Even things like the amount of time passed since hair wash can count, because when you have more sebum on scalp, and especially if you stay under bright light, it can look the worst possible.

Thank you man, I really appreciate it. I have sinced shaved my head and it looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/gYmZeaN.jpg

Is it normal when you have a receding hairline for your hairline/forehead to look higher when your hair is cut down like that? I'm worried that my widows peak is receding more or something.
