Hi,

After many years of searching boards like this i've finally decided to create an account and post in one. I'm now pretty sure that i am losing hair but i'll tell my whole story first.

When i was 13 i first noticed hair on my desk at school. I realised that if i ran my hand through my hair at the temples a few strands would come out on each side every time. I started jokingly saying to my parents that i was going bald. This continues until 17 when i start focusing on it more again. Hair still falls out if i run my hands though my hair on the temples. I also start checking my pillows and realise there are lots of hair on the pillows. A few months later and it now seems if i run my hands through the top of my head hairs come out. I go to get my blood test and it comes back saying i am slightly low in iron but really low in vitamin d so i start taking pills for Vit D. All the time i am still not sure whether i am actually going bald or its just me being paranoid - i have always had ultrafine hair so never really been able to tell if the amount of scalp i was seeing was normal.
Here i also start using regain but after a month I tell my self that my balding is not actually happening so i stop.
I have now moved to australia from england for 6 months so the vitamin d should not be a problem.
I should say that with dry hair it does not look like i am going bald at all but with wet hair that all changes.
Im going to post a picture that i just took. My hair is wet and there is natural light coming straight at it. I don't know if that is how you are meant to take them or not.
The problem i have had all this time is that i have never known whether i am imagining it or not. If i am it would suck to spend all this money on meds - thinking it working - when in actual fact i didn't need them in the first place!

To me that picture looks incredibly drastic but as soon as it dries you can no longer tell.

I've probably missed a lot of important info out so if you have any questions just ask.
Also hope this is the right board to post in.

Go to a hairloss/transplant surgeon. They can check you for miniaturisation. If the hair diameter in thinning areas is significantly smaller than hair in non thinning areas, then it's androgenic allopecia. If not then it's probably something else. Your pattern is not typical of male pattern baldness, but not everyone thins the same way, some people have diffuse thinning.

The fact that this started at 13 and the random thinning makes me believe that this is not male pattern baldness/androgenic allopecia.

Yeh it sucks - have you tried any of the big 3?
I've just started minoxidil and nizoral.
Have you seen a specialist - at the moment i am still being told its all in my mind but i don't believe them
