Hey, I'm considering using Minoxidil for helping my beard grow in better. I've read about people using it for this and I know of the benefits and side effects to using this stuff but I was wondering if when using it for my beard, would it still have an affect the hair on my scalp?

I don't want to use it for my beard if it has any effect on my hair.

Doubtful. It typically only affects hair locally at the area of application

I use minoxidil foam for both hair and beard. Hair (entire top of scalp + sides above the ears area) twice a day. Entire beard (including side burns) once a day.
I only started minoxidil on beard 3 weeks ago though, and it's slightly more itchy than normal now but I can live with it. The reason I only use minoxidil on beard once a day is because I already have a decent full beard (wanna make it insane beard) and also because I use retin-a cream for my face at night.
It's too early to tell if my beard improved, my main gauge for improvement will be if my poverty stache and weak soul patch start filling in.

P.S. I'm not entirely sure if this is because of the minoxidil but it seems like I'm breaking out slightly more on my cheeks. I would advise having some sort of a skin care regime in addition to minoxidil. Good luck!

No Idea about it. Actually, Minoxidil can be applied externally to the scalp and the hair, helps to overcome the problem of hair loss.
