Do you guys think that male pattern baldness drug treatments will get much better over the course of the next 5 years? Do any of you think we'll see a much more effective drug than finasteride or dutasteride?

I'd like to think there will be something within 5 years but I I think its very unlikely.

have there been any substancial treatments created in the last 5 years? not that I can think of. but remember all it takes is one independent scientist to develop create/invent something and test it out. Who knows.

That's the $64,000 question. It's like asking what the stock market will do tomorrow (which I'd prefer to know if given the choice).

You can bet that there are folks out there working on it right now. I venture that a lot of guys would gladly pay a kidney and an inch of dick to get a "better" treatment, even with no guarantee of result. Where there's money there's work.

I'm going to say, YES.

Dutasteride only came out wihin the last 5 years, with more promising results than finasteride. In addition, we can look forward to hair multiplication being further researched.

More people are becoming bald. I'm certain we'll see advances in the next 5 years.

I guess it's possible that hair multiplication will arrive within 5 years. It will be a surgical procedure though, not a drug.

I suppose the thinking behind this question is that, if I start on Propecia now, maybe by the time the male pattern baldness finds a way to combat the Propecia I'll be able to take something else.

Minoxidil foam in a concentration exceeding 10% strength has already passed its phase III clinical trial and I expect will hit the market towards the end of this year or early 2007.
Apart from that I highly doubt any pharmaceutical companies see any financial incentive to develop a male pattern baldness treatment. Its highly unlikely they wil be able to beat the 86% success rate of Propecia and maintain sides at only 2%. Propecia is actually a more effective drug than Aspirin (when used as in analgesia).
Maybe HM will creep in within 5 years. Or maybe 10 or even 15. No-one is really sure, not even Intercytex!
