Hey,

Im new to this forum and i've been reading some of the other post's and im hoping some of you will be able to answer a few of my questions about propecia.

I started to notice about 2 years ago my hair was thinning at the temples, that went from thinning to recession and its even thinned somewhat at the front now although on top and at the crown my hair still seems ok.

I decided to give minoxidal a go which i did not like like so i stopped using it and then 8 months ago i visted my Dr and started taking propecia.

Since i started im still losing my hair and i've noticed no regrowth but i have noticed just recently when i've finished in the bath there does not seem to be as much hair in the bottom of the tub however there is still some.

Im due to return to the Dr's office tomorrow and im unsure if i should continue use really as i havent noticed anything that great especially when it seems so expensive and ive since read and been told that it only works on the crown? However if i don't use propecia what else is there?

I would appreciate any advice, cheers :)

Why didn't you like minoxidil? If you continue on Propecia there is some chance that you'll regrow some of your hairline, but don't count on it. Thickening of thinning areas is more likely than regrowth of slick bald areas. Propecia is first and foremost effective as prevention against further loss. Your hairline might be the only problem right now, but who knows when your crown is going to thin? It could be sooner than you think. You can save money by getting Proscar (5 mg finasteride) instead of Propecia. Cut the Proscar into four with a pill cutter, to get 1.25 mg of finasteride (Propecia is 1 mg).
