Hi,

I noticed what I thought was a receding hairline when I was 19. Right away I freaked out and bought some Propecia and Rogaine and took them for about three years (ages 19-22). I'm now 26 and haven't taken any medication or applied Rogaine for several years. Since I first noticed my receding hairline when I was 19, I haven't noticed any further loss; I would say that I am between a 1 and 2 on the Norwood Scale and closer to 2 than 1. My dad has a full head of hair, my grandfather on my mother's side had the majority of his hair before he died, my uncles have all of their hair, and I never met my grandfather on my dad's side. Do you think I will lose more hair as I get older or do you think that this may just be my hairline now and into the future? Thanks!

Who knows, you can stay a NW2 until you die or you could lost it all in the next 10 years. Best thing to do is to stay on Propecia if you think you're losing your hair (granted you don't have any significant side effects).

But if you haven't been using any medication in the last few year like you stated, then maybe you don't have hairloss at all or at least it's very slow. So maybe the best thing for now is to just keep a close eye on it and if you notice it getting worse get back on meds.

Thanks for the reply Naltima. That is one of the scary things with hair loss, you just don't know how far it will go.

Sounds like a mature hairline, who knows whether it'll develop - pictures could help. Best bet is to ask a doctor or a dermatologist
