Will healthy shedded hairs grow back?

HI guys,

I've got a question or two I hope you guys could answer;

I went on minoxidil 5 because I noticed some thinning in the front, and I thought that this would be a good way to thicken it up. I used the Minoxidil on the front of my head, and noticed some shedding from the MONTH that I have been using it for... HOWEVER, I have gone off the product because it was lowering my blood pressure, or so that's what my doctor tells me.

My question is; Will the healthy hairs shedded by Minoxidil return even if im off the product? Or did the Minoxidil essentially kill those hairs? Will they grow back in the semi-thick way they were before?

What I expect from my research is that they will grow back as they were before the treatment ever started, and then continue down whatever road they were headed - or are they permanently gone?

Thanks!

Gwin

edit - Does anybody know how long it will take for blood pressure to return to normal after stopping use of this stuff? Thanks again.

No, they probably won't grow back. Those hairs were dying and minoxidil pushed them out to bring new hairs, but since you aren't applying the growth stimulate, they will be unproductive again.

hairs fall out & a new hair will slowly grow through. minoxidil doesnt 'kill' the hair. you also need to get on propecia to lower the DHT in your body that is attacking your hair.

Minoxidil does not "kill" hairs. Just the opposite in fact. But, it does cause loss phase hair to shed as follicles come out of dormancy early. Even if you go off treatment, the follicle is viable and will likely replace the shed hair.
