Will finasteride/minoxidil work without Nizoral?

I've read somewhere that both these proven treatments will NOT work properly without Nizoral! I am really worried that I've been wasting the last 6 months on these 2 proven treatments without using Nizoral (which I plan to start using as soon as possible).

So, will finasteride and minoxidil eventually work without Nizoral? (I know that adding it is always a welcome step for a better hair env., etc...)

Also, is one time of shampoo session a week enough for Nizoral? I am long-haired and it's tedious for me to wash and comb my hair twice a week.

the studies on both of these drugs were made without nizoral.

I dont use it either, dries my hair and scalp really bad

I don't know who wrote that stuff about Nizoral here on hairlosstalk, but it is completely inaccurate and I'm surprised it has not been challenged. The effectiveness of Finasteride and Minoxidil without the use of a Nizoral shampoo is a proven fact that has been confirmed by many large-scale studies. It has been proven that Finasteride alone (without Minoxidil even) is enough for the huge majority of men to successfully treat their male pattern baldness.

Nizoral is actually far less proven as a hair loss treatment than either finasteride or minoxidil, and I personally am not convinced it does much of anything to be honest. All there is to go on is two or three small-scale studies that showed Nizoral to be of some benefit, and these studies were poorly controlled and involved very small sample sizes, and at least one of these studies was carried out by people marketing the product.

I'm using just dutasteride and minoxidil to treat my hair loss, and my hair is thickening up and improving very well. dutasteride and minoxidil have worked very well in my case.
