Shedding before finasteride, Will My usage of finasteride make it worse? Other Words destroy My hair
finasteride won't make your hair worse. If anything, it'll maintain your baseline. You might experience shedding on finasteride and it can take up to a year or more for some of those shed hairs to regrow.
People who claim that finasteride made their hair worse drop the drug altogether at the first symptoms of Telogen Effluvium. This is problematic because by dropping finasteride, there's nothing to inhibit the local 5ar production that would otherwise upregulate DHT production. This in turn allows DHT binding and causes further damage and loss in addition to the Telogen Effluvium. Consequently, someone who had a shed on finasteride will continue to lose hair and they falsely accuse finasteride of worsening their male pattern baldness when in actuality it was their discontinuation of finasteride that made their hair worse. When you shed hair on finasteride, those hairs are only transitioning to a different phase. Shedding =/= hair loss in the case of finasteride.
