Why would Dutasteride be more effective than Finasteride?

If the inhibition of the wrong type of 5 alpha reductase enzyme doesn't help with hairloss (hence the supposed uselessness of Saw Palmetto), why would Dutasteride (which inhibits both right and wrong types of enzyme) be more helpful than finasteride (which only inhibits the right one)?

And why would Dutasteride be more effective than finasteride and SP combined?

Dutasteride is shown to have a higher scalp DHT inhibition over finasteride. The vast majority of people don't require the extra inhibition to see results, therefore finasteride is all you will need. I don't know where people get the idea that there's the "wrong" form of DHT being inhibited, it's more WHERE it's inhibited that matters. I believe (but am not sure) that saw palmetto COMPETES with DHT rather than inhibiting the production of it. Which would probably render it usless as a hairloss drug.

I'm probably wrong though.

Hey Stingray, just wondering how the Dutasteride is working for you, I know it's early days yet and that judging this is pretty subjective but do you feel that you are seeing fewer hairs come out, when washing or brushing your hair for example?

Good luck,
Slarti

I've just seen another of your posts which says you'll update us on your progress in a months time so ignore this post, except the message of good luck.
