IMO hair transplants aren't that expensive, compared to many other things we shell out on. Are the results seen as being generally unsatisfactory?

hair transplant results are now of acceptable quality if you go to the right doctor but it involves committing yourself to repeated surgeries as your male pattern baldness progresses and also accepting a scar with strip surgery and some level of at least of minor scarring with FUE (although this may be barely noticeable).

For most of us I believe surgery is the option of last resort.

Another big factor is cost as although you say they aren't that expensive the cost is still quite large, although compared to the cost of some peoples regimes probably compares quite well in the long term

I dont think i'll ever get a hair transplant unless HM comes out where they can do my whole head. With the technology I think i'd rather just shave my head worst case scenario.

Something will be out in the future to 'save' us all, im sure of it.

I'm not, I don't think there'll be anything significant along in the next ten years except HM, and only people with advanced male pattern baldness will benefit from that.

I agree with you that theres a slim chance of anything significant coming out in the next ten years, maybe HM.

But why do you say that it will only benefit people with advanced male pattern baldness? I think it will benefit everyone and anyone with male pattern baldness. Regardless of how severe it is.

I had one....300 grafts in the front/mid to fill in reall thin areas. Glad I did it. Now I can cover up well with Couvre. Don't think I would do it again. Real pain to go through (hassle of take time off from work, then have "dots" on head for 10 days, pain in doner area, 3000 bucks). Doner area itched for years. Can barely feel scar there 9 years later. hair transplant can't really thicken well, at least with me. Gave me a "thinning look" but with Couvre covers really well.

Why can't more people own trees that grow money?

Thinning Sucks, how visible is the donar area scar?

At this point, the scar is barely visible if you pull the hair away. I took about 5 years to have the scar so I did not feel it with my finger (raised bump). I am sure that a complete shave would show it however (not that I ever plan to do...hopefully)

How old are you thinning ? are there any scars in the recipient area ? what technology did they use on you back then ? Do you have pics ?

because its taken from the back, which is not effected by dht, so it can never fall out no matter where its moved too, hence the horseshoe !

Had the latest technology which has not changed...micrografting 2 to 3 hairs per plug....I can not even tell under close inspection in frontal area. It is totally natural. It just is tough to get real thick. Takes a tremendous amont of grafts to get thick. I had 300 which is about 900 hairs aross the front area. Like I said donor area is what hurt for a while when sleeping until stitches out then many years to heal. It itched for a long time. The procedure is basically painless but just a hassle to go through and have to go on vacation so people dont see the healing grafts which will fall out in 8-10 days with hair attached. I am 41....

I think the next big break through will be when body hair transplants are perfect. No scars on your head, and enough to put on your head so you can shave with a low grade clipper (enough to look decent). However, this probably benifits only the lower Norwood.
