I'm wondering what characteristics do people possess that does not allow Propecia to regrow hair for them, as oppose to those who do regrow hair with it. I've read that Propecia works best on hair that is thinning but still alive and growing, via reducing DHT and reversing miniaturization. My hair has diffusely thinned on top but I still have most if not all of it still growing, I'm looking for Propecia to thicken it to full terminal hairs. I have no idea what to expect, I've seen some very promising results, and I don't need additional hair just thicker. I don't want to commit to applying Rogaine, especially if Propecia could thicken it.

There is no way of knowing without trying.
Apparently, for minoxidil there is a way to predict your reaction, by checking if you have a particular sulfate-related genetic characteristic.
Not for propecia. Only after trying do you know if it is ok for you in terms of results and side effects.
