I saw an old lady today that was 60+ with a Norwood 1 teenage hairline. Women carry the male pattern baldness genes, and they have all the same diets, hormones, and sex that men do. Why dont women go bald at the same rates men do?
Maybe its a stupid question, but why such a huge difference? I see tons and tons of old women that have almost zero hair loss, but its the opposite for most men. A giant disparity

it’s because they have different amounts of the hormones that men do. I’m sure someone could explain it better, but women have significantly less testosterone than men, which converts into DHT, which causes hair loss. Some women (almost always those with hormone imbalances) actually do have hair loss. Sometimes diffuse, and sometimes in the same pattern that men do.

Women have much lower testosterone than men and they also have estrogen, which helps hair grow longer and thicker. The time when most women experience hair loss is during menopause when estrogen levels drop and testosterone rises, affecting the hair follicles. Why it affects them in the Ludwig scale is anyone's guess but I have seen women ( mostly older ) with genuine receded hairlines.
