Why do my testachles ache???

I was on finasteride for 6 months no problem. I cut the dose to .625 to see if I could maintain my results with less but it didn't work. I lost hair. I went back up to 1mg and grew all my hair back and things are wonderful again...except...

Here's the problem: my nuts ache! why????

No watery semen, no problems with erections, no loss of labido, I'm doing fine, but my nuts ALWAYS have this dull ache. It's like my body got used to the lower dose and doesn't want 1mg anymore!

Should I be worried? Does the ache mean something bad is happening? (It actually goes away when I work out interestingly enough. I guess because lifting raises testosterone levels in body?) Does this mean my testicles are beginning to atrophy and die?

Anyone have anything to tell me? I'm worried... :(

When I first started taking finasteride my nuts ache too,I went to boxer shorts thinking my underwear was to tight,I later found out from reading the forums this was a small side effect for some on finasteride,After about 4 weeks it went away for me and never return and i've been on finasteride for 12 years now and so far so good no sides after that, the ache should go away in a little time at least it did for me.

I had the ache on and off for about 3 months but I don't have it anymore. Just stay consistent and I think it will go away.

It's your HPTA adjusting hormone levels. Your testicles are shrinking when they're aching, but it's nothing to worry about as long as you don't get softer erections.

Is this really true? Ever since I've seen you say that I've thought my testicles looked slightly smaller than they have in the past, but then again I didn't pay too much attention beforehand.

Enden, shrinking by a noticeable amount?

sc64, GreyMan, did you guys notice a change in the size of your nuts?

Yes, it's true. They get smaller and softer, but it's only temporary if the HPTA is adjusting the hormone levels. It may be the onset of severe side effects too, and softer erections (elevated estrogen level) are the first step, although you'll most likely notice transparent prostate fluid before that happens - which indicates DHT deficiency.

Your testicles shrink because the HPTA reduces the amount of LH - which stimulates your testicles to produce testosterone. It may appear when you begin treatment since finasteride increases the testosterone- and estrogen level by 15%, but I believe that unstable estrogen level is the cause later on. Estrogen is very suppressive.

Thanks man that's helpful. Weird that I never had to 'adjust' when I started the drug? I started 1 mg and never had a nut ache once. Oh well.

most people have no problems at all, you're probably not in the minority

When you begin the treatment, and the testosterone- and estrogen level raises, your HPTA will supress LH, but your testicles may still be stimulated enough to not cause any pain. Ball ache is actually a side effect which was discovered post marketing, and it's not uncommon, although most men probably use finasteride without any side effects at all - like TGM said.
