Why do all spironolactone topicals suck?

Dr Lee's 2% supposedly smells the worst, and isn't even that effective at 2%. Dr Lee 5% still smells like freakin skunk, and is messy to apply. Genhair's spironolactone cream is even messier to apply and leaves my hair extremely gunky. Why can't they make a decent spironolactone topical? I don't get it.

Can you STFU?

All you do is constantly troll the forums bashing every proven and decent treatment for fighting male pattern baldness out there. Do you post about anything else? Cause I haven't seen a break from your relentless attacks on finasteride, dutas, spironolactone, and minoxidil.

Because spironolactone is a b**ch to dissolve, so a concoction of strange solvents is probably needed, which are then tough to make into a nice smelling, pleasant feeling cream.

Do you have GenHair's newer version of spironolactone 5% Cream? That version is said to be better and said to have the best smell of all the spironolactone products. Also, spironolactone is inconvenient to use if you have diffuse thinning. So if you are thinning in a variety of areas all over your head, applying ANY CREAM all over your head will pose quite a problem.

I've only applied it with Tricomin, but sometimes by itself. And while the smell isn't strong on my head, it is awful and noticable. I can't fathom how someone could use the very same stuff and not notice an odor.

As for the Genhair spironolactone, it definitely smells...better, not nearly as offensive, but it smells far from nice. More like vix vaporrub. You think they couldn't thrown some vanilla or sandlewood in there or something, lol.

I've never questioned the efficacy of the "big 3", but I'm not going to sit around like some people and pretend that at some point in their treatment a lot of people don't notice adverse/weird side effects from finasteride dutasteride and minoxidil, 2 year trials on god-knows-who be damned. When so many of those with side-effects exerience them many months into treatment, a bunch of people posting how they're 2-3 months into treatment with no sides means nothing to me. Wait a couple years, then tell me you haven't had sides. Not to mention the total lack of knowledge of the very long term effects these hormone-altering drugs can have on younger people. Sorry if I come off as "negative", I'd like to think of it more as realistic. As for the spironolactone......yeah, they all suck, to the point where I think I'm validated in asking why that is.

And fyi, I'm only using products that are "proven" to some degree.

Yeah, my genhair cream just came. My main problem are is at the hairline. It's receding and fairly thin. I applied the genhair spironolactone to my hairline last night and this morning, just a thin layer, and it makes the hair really gunky.

Cool. Do you massage the cream into your scalp/hair, like you would do with lotion when applying it to your skin? Or do you just apply a thin layer and then just leave it without massaging it in? Also, you may want to try getting a hair cut, that way it will be easier to apply.

Fat-Elvis: I've told you before to mix in about 10-15 drops of some eucalyptus essential oil in your 2oz. spironolactone. creams to enhance penetration AND reduce the odor problem!!

Why don't you listen to Old Baldy?! :p

OB, does this mask the odor, or does it somehow neutralize it?

My guess is it deodorizes. I don't see how it could change the reaction when minoxidil. and spironolactone. come in contact with each other. But it will eliminate the odor if enough is used. Give it a try. It's cheap. Plus, eucalyptus essential oil is a penetration enhancer based on studies and Dow Chemical's list of 200+ penetration enhancers I've posted here before.

Sorry about the first link where you have to buy $30.00 minimum. You can go here but there is a $10.00 minimum per order.

http://chemistrystore.com/essentialoils.htm

Here's the list of penetration enhancers, go to the "Other" category for eucalyptus oil:

http://www.dowpharm.com/publications/Da ... ne1997.pdf

Finally, MANY essential oils will deodorize stuff and aid in the penetration of stuff!!
