Why are we all different?

Why is it that some people look in the mirror and say to themselves "Well...I'm going bald. I wish I wasn't but that's life". They then cut their hair short and get on with their lives.

Why is it that we cannot do this?

Self confidence. For some people appearance is not all that important they value themselves on more than just how they look.
(believe it or not CCS)

Remember the pic someone posted of Sean William Scott sans hair? Sure, he's balding but he has a great bone structure, and hair loss makes little difference to his looks. If I looked like him, I wouldn't worry too much about my hair. But I don't, so I do! :)

Some of us have body dysmorphic disorder. Those are the guys that one day part their hair wrong one day and suddenly they are a Norwood 3-4 in their own minds. There are quite a few guys like this on the internet.

Some of us have issues with self-confidence and are rather insecure about any problem with our bodies. That either stems from having a near perfect existence (popular, attractive, well-liked) for the first 15-30 years of life or it stems from never really being accepted and simply desiring for at least one thing in life to go right for once.

Many of us have accepted it. You wake up one day and you realize that life gets a whole lot harder than your hair suddenly refusing to grow. So, you move on and you get used to the idea. You start taking care of every other facet of your life, so you lead the healthiest existence possible. There are quite a few people like that on here, as well.

I'm sure that their are other groups that people fall into, but denial, depression, anger, obsessive compulsion, and other mental disorders get you nowhere fast. Acceptance and realizing that it will likely get better with the advent of new therapies is the only way to go and the only way that you'll stay sane enough to move on with your life.

However, I became so popular that I thought of doing it again!!

The women loved it. Hey, you young guys, maybe I just gave you some advice!

Well, I have such a diverse population of shoes that such an endeavor for me would consist of me wearing one black dress shoe and one white tennis shoe.

I think it would be a disaster both socially and aesthetically.

Great question. It had me thinking all day.

What did I come up with?

Well, some people place an excess esteem on the way they look and might react similarly to say, a wart on their forehead. Whereas other people may place their esteem on their ability to do a job.

Some people may be control freaks/perfectionists and consistently strive to be the best they can be and feel they NEED to do something about their baldness.

Some people may be depressive and need to place it on something. For some people it may be being fat, for another it could be being ugly and for some people its hair but the reality is prolly that they're just unhappy with what they're doing in their life.

But I think most of all, its got to do with being a thinker and the personality type to 'dwell' on something. I know people who are going bald, and they don't like it and they don't say 'thats life' but at the same time, they don't dwell on it, they move, are active and get on with doing things. I guess they kind of forget about it by doing things. It takes on less importance then...

For me? it was the shock of so much hair falling out at once that made me take notice and i do tend to dwell on things sometimes...like this Question, lol.

I agree with the "doing things" part. I dont give my hair a second thought when im working all day long and studying other stuff after work. Too bad I lost my job lol

Yeah, hair thinning is something people focus on when they've nothing else to focus on.

Answer: Do what you can for it and live as full a life as possible.

I'm sure treatments like Propecia would be much more widely used if they were more widely known. My GP (family doctor) had never heard of it! Here in the UK Propecia may finally start to reach a wider market because Boots, the dominant chain of pharmacies, is starting to offer it http://www.boots.com/microsites/microsi ... irectory=3

I think paranoia about sides also restricts take-up. Plus the critical factor, results are reasonable but less than miraculous. What's really needed is a "wow" product that has some marketing muscle behind it. Before dutasteride trials were cancelled, some touted it as the very product that could do this http://observer.guardian.co.uk/internat ... 75,00.html
