Why are my pills different? (pic)

Ok, I have a prescription for 5MG Proscar and at the local CVS I have been getting a generic Finasteride. That's the round pill. Cut into quarters, no problem.

But my insurance policy allows me to get three months worth of pills through mail order (Medco) at a reduced rate. But the pills are different.

What's the difference?

Also, I am not sure, but I think they sent me too many pills. I received three bottles of 30 pills @ 5MG each. Or maybe it's meant to be a year supply? Dunno...

Thoughts?

One is probably manufactured by a different company. Not all generics look alike. They both contain 5 mg of finasteride so I wouldn't be too concerned about what the pill looks like.

Even better... I found out my 90 pills were free since it was my first refill through Medco Mail Order. Sweet!

Next 90 pills will be $36.45. :D

Same thing happened to me, I have the round pills marked F5 and now get the rectangular ones

The round ones were easier to cut up IMO but you can't complain getting a years worth of propecia for less than $40

The only problem with doing this is we all now have a pre existing condition for an enlarged prostate that could come up if you ever have to get your own medical insurance
