Hello everyone, I'm 20 years old male I started thinning around the age of 17. Neither my father nor his father nor my mothers father were bald they all had great hair. I take DHT-Blocking vitamins, Minoxidil + DHT Blockers/Caffiene etc every day, I shampoo with Ketancazole and Saw palmetto DHT blockers biotin etc EVERYTHING that I can use except finasteride, I don't want to use that, I have some sexual problems already since I take SSRi's since the age of 16. I exercise 3-4 times a week, I eat good healthy food I lost around 25kg when I was 16 ( I was around 85kg I am 72kg now but I gained much weight by going to the gym and eating more since I was really skinny around the age of 18, I was 60kg and 181cm).

I don't know if it's my medication or something wrong with my testosterone/thyroid/hormones, but It doesn't seem like my hair ever gets stable. I am using Minoxidil for 2 years and I always had up and downs, I would start minoxidil, shed like crazy lose most of my hair then after a couple months it would stabilize a bit but it would turn my hair curly and dry. Then again I would shed hair and cycle repeats. I don't know what to do, I need my hair, I want great hair. I am seriously considering a real wig or a transplant, if anyone knows of anything to help my case I would really like to hear it, thanks so much for listening.

Its simple, your hair is sensitive to the effects of male pattern baldness. Just because you don't have any relatives expressing the gene doesn't mean you won't go bald. Same goes the other way around. Some people keep a NW1 when every other male in the family is bald. Its a mix of genetics and luck, and you got bad luck. Unfortunately one of the only things that are PROVEN to help is the one thing you don't want to use.

Yes, I understand. It's just I already need to take meds my whole life. I have enough side effects as it is, I really don't need some more. Is there no other weaker substitute to propecia that I can use that isn't a strong pharmaceutical drug?

Unfortunately not. You can at least try finasteride, it won't kill you.
