I've been using spironolactone for more than two months and have experienced no sides. I don't know if it's tricomin, nizoral 2%, spironolactone, or xandrox 15%/5%, but my hair situation has improved, I think, a little. I need to get a digital camera... I have frontal and temporal recession.

I added dr. Lee's 2% spironolactone a couple of months ago... I'd like to add the 5% lotion to the hairline. The 2% is fairly quick drying without a strong odor (a little, but not much). I just wish it would mix with minoxidil products so it didnt add another product.

I am using it. I think it does make a difference. Not sure how much or what it does exactly, but I always put the stuff on after I use minoxidil.

Probably about an hour after.

I use finasteride, minoxidil, spironolactone and Nizoral.

It's just that something extra. I'm sure it does help, although like I say, I have no idea how much it helps.

I use it all over (the male pattern baldness effected part of) the head. Because I have a #1 shaved head, it's easier to use the cream all over the head. There is no styling problem’s because it is shaved.

If my hair was longer, then I would have a problem, because the stuff doesn't smell like roses, and mixed in with minoxidil it's awful.

I'd probably have to use the 2% topical, if I did have it longer. I get it from Dr Lee.

Lastly, the 5% tub lasts quite long.

You might want to put the spironolactone on twice a day. spironolactone has a short life, but it does work good. You have to give it time just like any other treatment. Apply it in morning and then again at night. :)

dice,
there was a discussion about frequency of spironolactone application lately, on h l h forum. the final agreement was that once a day spironolactone application was sufficient.

I'll have to go to HLH and check it out. :)

I'm using it. Something is working!

Dice: I use it once a day.

Croat: What was the gist of the "once a day is sufficient" discussion? Why wouldn't twice be better?

oldy,
i think that even bryan participated in the discussion. the core conclusion was that spironolactone had a half life of abt. 20 hours (if i recall correctly). so, one application is almost quite enough.
however, 2 application a day can't hurt

20 hrs.?!............if its that much why has it been said that it has a short life? Doesn't look very short to me. Maybe I'll cut back to 2 times a day. :)

Now, is this 20 hrs with the 5% spironolactone lotion or 20 hrs with the 2% spironolactone solution? :?

I keep pointing out that in some of the successful animal experiments with topical spironolactone, it was applied only once a day on week-days, and NOT AT ALL over weekends.

Bryan, is spironolactone likely to be more successful if used twice a day and at weekends?

There's no doubt in my mind that it would be MORE successful twice a day, but nobody knows exactly how much more.
