the derm i saw said i have scalp psoriasis but i don't know. All the stuff she gave me did nothing to help.

I tried:
- capex shampoo
- dovonex lotion
- derma smoothe oil

The derma smoothe crap is horrible. Has to stay on for 8 hours, extremely greesy and the smell sticks to anything it touches for weeks.

My mom gave me her taro-clobetasol ointment to try and it helps quite a bit. The derm i saw said not to use it because it's strong stuff but it works for me so f*** her. The only downside is that the stuff is thick and sticky so applying it is hard to do unless your hair is buzzed or shaved.

I've heard that UVB therapy works wonders in keeping psoriasis under control. Shaving your head and tanning in sunlight can help too plus it's free. I'm hoping the shaved head and my ointment will do wonders this summer....

What stuff are you currently using for treatment? Also in the area you have psoriasis hows your hair? My derm said there is no connection between it and hair loss but the outbreak i had a year ago was around my hairline and i lost a bunch of hair there. Currently the only place i have psoriasis is a little patch on the side of my head and it too feels a bit thinner... :(

That’s exactly what happened to me. When I first got scalp psoriasis I had it everywhere on top of my head and on the sides. But once my male pattern baldness started, a 1 year and half ago, I just get it on the sides. My hair loss is frontal. The doctor gave me derma smooth and it makes wonder to me. But just as you said I got tired of applying it at night for 8 hours with shower cap on my head it just bothers me and sometimes I cant sleep because of my head so warm that my scalp start to sweat. Someone told me about a shampoo called MG 217 or MG17 I am not sure and there is a lotion that comes with it. It’s a 3% coal tar solution. I think its good but you have to use the lotion because it dries the scalp like a son of a b*tch. I personally use Nixon scalp therapy after it.

Last week I had a hair cut and I had the lady to cut my hair on the sides on # 2 man it looked like sh*t it was really thin where I had psoriasis. I wonder once I loose all my hair and start shaving it all how it will look like.

About proscor how well is it working for you? And do you have side effects. I heard beside the sexual and physical side effects it has side effect on your emotions as some people say it caused them depression and made them feel weird.

Same thing here. I honestly think the psoriasis could have jump started my male pattern baldness or the other way around.

I'm not so sure how the coal tar shampoo will work for me. My derm said to get t-gel with my capex shampoo and alternate them. I did so but i think because the tar shampoo dries out your scalp so much that it might do more harm than good. It helps remove the skin flakes for a while after but your overall scalp feels crap.

Yeah i had #2 on the sides as well and you could see the redness of the psoriasis in the little patch i can't seem to get rid of for good. That ointment i mentioned cleaned it up in about 2 days. The only thing is it comes back if i stop using the stuff.

As for losing your hair i talked to a guy that had psoriasis. He called in sick for two weeks because it was so bad. He ended up shaving his head and tanning. Cleaned up his scalp completely. I think being able to treat your skin directly helps a lot. Plus in the areas where my hair has gone in the front my psoriasis has too. I can't imagine going bald and having my skin look like crap... would make me want to suck on the end of a gun.

for me finasteride sucked, i quit taking it about two months ago. i was on it for 14 months and got little in terms of results. for the first 8 months it helped lower the amount of hair i was losing but after that my hair started to fall out just as fast or faster than before taking the drug. for side effects it hurt my sexual ability for a few weeks at the start and gave me random outbreaks of acne. that's it though, no depression or anything too horrible.

i've been taking 0.5mg of avodart a day for the last 3 weeks. the amount of hair falling out has dropped a ton and better yet no side effects at all. for me personally i think avodart might be the better drug.

Hi.

I think i had psiriosis but i dont know. I read about it after i've read about hair loss on Wikipedia. I had it for three years. I had three doctors but i became better with the last.
The symptoms were:
- Gray and red flaked skin with some blood on it.
- When the scalp flake off it came with a lot of hair attached on it (it was really attach like it's in your scap).

During the three years i used:
- Tedol (very very bad)
- Squaphane (it did nothing)
- A french shampoo which i dont remember the name (it was good for some time but useless then)
- Alpha Cade (very good shampoo, a doctor gave me that three years and i became much better)
- Sucadermil (i used with Alpha Cade and it was very good though the smell is like hot tar or burned rub)

Now i'm better though i've a lot of itch and the scalp is red with some random wounds. But i think this is dermatit seborraichous.

This disease came at the same time with hair loss but i dont think there's not a connection.

It was dark times.

(Sorry for my bad english)

yeah me too i think its has to do with depression and stress...when i moved to the US 5 years ago i had really hard time to adapt to changes i went through hard and tough times then the posorisis appeared and then one year after that i started loosing hair...i look exactly like my uncles on my mom side even my hair its curly and black they always told me u wont loose hair...but i guess u have the bad genes u just need to triger it...so i guess the harsh times i went trough triggered it..

Why don't you try a mild shampoo - I use vitamin E with aloe vera shampoo from health foods - and then after you towel your hair, pour a glass of water who has 1/3 of apple cider vinegar to your hair - rest is water.

Let it dry and don't rinse it. Tip: do it at night before sleep as it smells bad.

After the third treatment tell me about the results - give it at least a week to act.

Very interesting, I had my forehead and sideburns covered by psoriasis about the same time I had oozy crotch ezcema.... I didnt pay attention to my hair much because my trunk area was affecting me so much more and caused alot of embarassment.

Both stopped about the same time though, lost alot of my temple areas after it and continued to have sebhorric derm all over after that. seb derm sort of went away when I coincidentially moved to a much colder place to live... comes back now n then but not as a plague.

4 months later started on 6 weeks of minoxidil and some sort of intermediate hairs appeared on the temple area, but i stopped minoxidil cold turkey 2 days back, think this is a bad move? I'm a norwood 2 and got on finasteride the same time as minoxidil, i get uneasy when i read posts of dependancy on minoxidil.

I've read CCS's views on dependancy, but does it apply in my case? I've looked up psoriasis as a temporary hairloss thingy, my temple areas wern't slick bald to start with (2mm velus hairs sticking out) but it never grew out after 4 months..
