Yeah, but a doctor could as well. Doctors are cheaper to see than derms since they arent specialists. Trust me that derm will want you back for check ups as often as he can so he can make more money.
So now you have to see a doctor sometimes plus periodically a more expensive dermatologist. Adding more visits is bad.

My regular pcp would prescribe it to me in the past. But derms also prescribe it.
