Which Medication To Use And How? (uk)

Hi

I am a complete novice as to my understanding of hair loss and I'm hoping to get some answers here. I have balding temples and a crown.

If I'm honest I wouldn't want to put foam in my hair if I could avoid it but I do wish to take pills.

I am not on any medication but wish to start. The questions I have are;

Which medication should I use?
Do I need to go to a doctor for this?
I see I can order online however is it best to go to the doctor?
Should I use brand medication or generic (cheaper)?
I've seen it can be expensive for the pills online, is this normal? Would a doctors prescription not be cheaper?

Any advice is appreciated!!!!

But anyway, It's always useful to go to your doctor for advice about your treatment, and i have no idea if a doctors prescription would be cheaper but you can check that out after your consultation.

If you want to start taking finasteride, you should know all the side effect that may occur. It might also help to look at people's experience and what brand they have been using on different threads on this forum.

If you start taking finasteride, you should also consider to take minoxidil 5% with it. minoxidil foam dries pretty quick so you should not really worry about greasy hair. But of course finasteride alone will do pretty fine.
