Which is safer: wide tooth comb vs brush

I’ve always used a wide toothed comb because I think it surely must be better for the system/prevent hairloss from the unit.

the tangle teaser brushes a lot of people recommend here seem like they’re harsher and would probably lead to more shedding vs the WTC.

That's an interesting observation. I really haven't used anything but a detangling brush and I don't find that they run through my units terribly well. I'll try a WTC.

I attack it with a detangler brush as well and it goes through nicely, but maybe that's just a delusion. Maybe it's actually just puulling them out so easily you don't even feel. My hairdresser always detangles with comb I think.

Hair systems are so expensive, I’m always thinking about and talking about how to increase their longevity.

One of the biggest breakthroughs I’ve had (took about 2 years of wearing) was to figure out how to avoid tangles completely. Happy to go into details on that if you want but the WTC plays a big part in one aspect. I use it morning (soon as I’m up) and night (just before bed) to very gently straighten out all the hair. Tbh it makes it look kind of wiggy but it’s so good for the hair and nobody except maybe your partner will ever see anyway.

It really is like other hygiene routines, the more consistently you do it the better and if you forget it gets more difficult when you do eventually do it.

The WTC gently separates any very small tangles and points out any hairs stuck under the system when you reattach.

I see. It's just WTC has always meant World Trade Centre to me.
You read the title wide tooth comb versus brush....on a hair website...Read each response referring to wide tooth comb and assumed his question was whether or not he should brush his hair with the world trade center? Acronyms don't have copyrights.

I use the brush since I don´t know why doens´t affect the hairline to come up like the comb

I have a longer hair system, around 10 - 12 inches in length, and I find a detangling brush works best. It just effortlessly glides through the hair to untangle it without me having the exert much effort. Also it gives a neater look than a wide tooth comb.

Another thing many people overlook for having great hair is to use an anti-static brush or comb. Normal brushes or combs are prone to static build up, which causes the hair to look frizzy, but an anti-static solves that problem.

Brushing and combing sort of depend on the hair type. If one is not in a balding state or with curly or kinked hair, then brushing is probably more important and likely good for hair. If in the middle of a shed, then it might not matter but avoid anything that pulls on hair at all.

But when wet for people with mostly straight hair, you want to use the wide tooth comb. Most male hair is so short that it generally isn't an issue compared to now where I wear my hair as long as it grows. When wet, I love using the comb because at least for a while, it prevents shrinkage of the hair as it dries.

Does that apply to human hair or just systems and wigs, the anti-static idea because that sounds like something that might aid in not looking disheveled, even in wind.

It applies to both a person's bio hair as well as hair on hair systems. I used to get problems with static build up with my bio hair in the days before I started wearing hair systems, and using an anti-static brush or comb easily solved the problem and made my hair look much better. Different people may experience different things of course, but I find most brushes or combs eventually get a build up of static if used enough, so trying anti-static ones is a good idea.

Janey would like to know if you have a link, like maybe on Amazon.

If you Google 'Anti static combs', 'anti static hair brushes' or 'anti static detangling brushes', you should fine loads of them on various websites, for example:

Most chemist's or beauty stores should sell them too, or you can ask a hairdresser where to get them. I think I bought one in Sally Beauty a few years ago. They're easy enough to find.

Thanks. Which one are you currently using?
