Well what's your definition of better?

Propecia and proscar are both finasteride, but propecia is made for people with hairloss (cosmetic drug, 1mg finasteride) and proscar is made for people who need a smaller prostate (5mg). If you split proscar into quarters (or 1/5 but that's harder) you essentially have the exact same thing. Propecia is really expensive compared to Proscar (160 euros for 3 months for propecia, 28 euros for 3 months for proscar here in the Netherlands).

Finasteride = Finasteride.

As long as your getting your 1 mg/day it doesn't matter what you buy

I was informed by a hair clinic that chopped Proscar is not equivalent to Propecia - that 1/5th of Proscar does not necessarily equal 1mg of finasteride - and that people have had major issues trying the chopped Proscar route. The clinic may have been using scare tactics, but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't as simple as 1/5th of Proscar being exactly the same as Propecia.

My doctor and dermatologist said 1/4 of a proscar is just as good as taking propecia and since Proscar is way cheaper that's what I'm taking. Actually taking a bit higher dose of finasteride and I don't have sides so that's all good :)

I went to a very reputable hairloss clinic, it's the place where actor James Nesbitt and X Factor judge Louie Walsh got their hair transplant done, and I was told that chopped proscar is absolutely fine. It's not an exact science, as long as you roughly get quarters and take them every day, it's all good.
