When is it time to shave it off?

Should I shave it all off now?

I'm a 27 year old male who has had a receeding hairline for ten years. For a while, it seemed to stop receeding and I thought maybe I would just have a very mature hairline as an adult, but over the last couple of years it has really started to thin out more on top in addition to receeding at the corners.

I have been able to style it in a way that it appears less noticeable (although you can still tell I have a hairline when I do this), but it just feels really misleading to me when I bring women home to have sex with them and then they wake up next to me with my thin/flat M-shape crown. Not to mention, unavoidable situations like the wind and coming out of the water in the rain or at the beach.

I'm thinking maybe it's just time to shave it all off. What do you guys think? Should I shave it all off, leave it and enjoy it while it's there, do something else? I have included two current photos - one with the way I style it, and the other that reveals my hairline in all its glory.

What sucks is that I'm only 5'6" and my hair usually gave me an extra inch. I am a pretty decent looking guy and in good shape but this hairloss thing has definitely lowered my attractiveness and made my face look a lot different. Good thing I'm a smooth talker :hump:

Hey,

I am 28 and have a similar recession going on, but I am thinning too.
I was like you and got completely fed up of the wind, sea, and hiding it so opted to shave it off and so far so good with it shaved and had it shaved for about 6 months, but I am in the process of growing it back in.

My problem was I kept it too long when I did have hair. I was walking around with my hair too long at the sides and then with some wind it was a disaster. The side hair grows fast so I am trying a new hairstyle where I grow about 2-3 inches on top and keep the sides fairly short and see how that goes.
Have you thought about that style? It could give you hair to play with on top, and then with the shorter sides gives the impression of you having more hair.

I am ok with the shaved look but I realised I still have some hair left and I might as well take advantage of what I've got left and use up all my avenues before HAVING to shave it off.

I'd say try a shorter style, but if it's too much hassle to get it ready, then just shave it off.

How much would a year on finasteride and Minoxidil cost?

If I could get my hair back, I would. I had long hair for over 10 years until it was receeding too much and I knew it was only a matter of time. I would love to grow my hair long again. It looks good on me.

A year on finasteride and rogaine foam would cost you about $300. It's completely worth it.

If you have the money get on finasteride, minoxidil revigen and concealers etc you will look great you still have a decent amount of hair and all is not lost. If your like me and skint then sport the shave looked and see how you feel. You certainly feel alot better once you get use to it.

Never time to shave it! xD

I would be wary of finasteride (I think the sides were fairly bad for me and lingered too, but that's just me) - I tend to favour ketoconazole/miconazole and minoxidil atm, as those in combo seems to result in a pretty strong regimen. I would definitely consider a good but simple treatment if you wanna keep your hair or regrow!

Thanks for all the encouragement, guys. It really gives me some hope. I'm okay with shaving it all off if I have to in the end because I did it YEARS ago just for fun and thought I looked alright, but if I realistically had the option to regrow some lost hair and thicken it up, I'd be really happy with that.

Where do you guys usually buy finasteride? I looked around online and see you can get it without a prescription but I'm weary of the whole sales-pitch stuff that circulates the internet. What do you guys think? I'm specifically asking those that HAVE purchased it online. Or am I better off getting a prescription?

I know rogaine you can just buy anywhere pretty cheap.

IMO when you reach nw4 it's time to shave it off. You can get away with NW3 if you have straight hair.
