When Finasteride Loses It's Effectiveness/switching To Dutasteride.

Hey all, gonna be asking around a bit over the next few days as my hair has taken a serious hit over these last seven months and I know something's up. Sorry to the Mods beforehand if I post these in the incorrect sections, just wanting to gather as much information as I can. I've been holding on with finasteride as many of us here are, but it's effectiveness has clearly started to wear off and I'm starting to look at dutasteride as my next option. What is there general opinion of people round here about how to make the switch? I'm hearing a lot of guys do something like:

Mon - finasteride
Tues - duta
Wed - finasteride
Thurs - duta

etc, etc... you get the idea. Anyway, any opinions would be greatly appreciated. I'll fire some pictures up as soon as I get chance, I know it can help.

Thanks, James.

Hiya mate..I think I'm
experiencing a similar thing.. I'm not gonna try dusteride tho.. but here's my story so far guys..

So I,d been takin finasteride 1mg for about 5months and my initial results were ok ish after being balding since 25 I'm now 48 I'd experienced the first new growth on my crown in all that time after trying minoxidil and the whole kitchen sink shite etc... so after looking into it I decided to try 1mg twice a day as it sempt a good idea at the time, hmm so a month n a half in I started getting less growth and a little shedding so decided to go back to 1mg a day (I should of been content with what WAS happening with 1mg n leave it at that) but I didn't... so I'm now wondering if theres a dht backlash? Meaning if my body had become used to the extra dht blocker at 2mg per day so when I went back to 1mg dailey there was some sort of backlash? I know that, well I assume my hair/I'm really sensitive to dht on the scalp area so this is all I can think of???

Any advice would be really appreciated indeed as hair growth I much less dense overall and now I really wish I'd kept things as is on 1mg dailey instead of the increase..

If someone else has experienced this same problem I'd be very interested as to what their views are

Many kind thanks

people continue finasteride until medication builds up to steady state. It will mostly be there by 3 half lives. So for avodart this is roughly 15 weeks.

So I would just take both everyday for 15 weeks then drop propecia.

I would implore to heavily consider giving propecia a bit more time however... avodart has been conclusively linked to glucose intolerance and increased LDL levels where finasteride really has not.

Personally I don't know if it is worth it...

I know what you're saying about duta, I'm already starting to go off the idea of I'm honest! Ha ha! I'm kind of thinking that if Finasteride has already stared to wear off after only 3 and a bit years, and it wasn't like I had overwhelming results with finasteride either, just slowed my hair loss down and thickened up what I had, no regrow the really... so I doubt duta would make much of a difference anyway? Plus added risk... ahhh, I dunno...

Hi mate, could it be anything else beside you/me thinking that the finesteride is wearing of? Does a person's body really figure a way around the problem of making the finasteride less effective against the dht?
It'd be interesting to find out if our bodys can adapt and if that is the case then where do we go from here on?
The more I read n learn about this the more confused I am.. lol.
