When finasteride doesn't work

Hi!

I have taken finasteride since the end of August 2010. It has maybe not been as systematical as it should be because I had problem to acquire it for a while. Basically I used 1,25mg in form of Proscar for three months, when it ran out I was forced to take a break for about two months (the shipping around christmas was slow) so I took it up in the end of January this time 5mg Finpecia since I didn't see any result at all I figured (probably unsound) that I might not respond to such a low dosage and I kept with that till now when I've started taking just 1mg again. Anywhow, during the time I've taken finasteride I haven't noticed any difference at all. No side effects but also no improvement. I'm NW3V, now I experience thinning at the front which is starting to get serious, just NW3V without a thinning front would've been pretty ok but this just doesn't look good and it is continuing.

My question is basically what shall I do if finasteride doesn't work? Dutasteride? Higher dosage? And is this time I've used finasteride enough to say that it doesn't work?

I have ordered all my pills from different sites, it is a possibility definitely. But still I have researched the sites and they all seemed to have a good reputation. I bought from Pharmacy2Home last time. I'm going to get myself a prescription though since it's also much more convenient.

Thanks for your reply and I have read your thread for like two months ago, don't recall that it said anything about those who doesn't see results from finasteride but I will read it one more time then.

I don't think you've given it enough time for a full test with finasteride. If I were you, I'd give it AT LEAST a full year of use before making any serious judgement as to whether or not it's helping you.

If it still doesn't seem to be helping you after a year, I'd suggest adding topical products which could help, like Tricomin or Folligen or (best of all!) Proxiphen or Prox-N, if you can afford them. Some of those are purported to be even more effective than Propecia alone.

I was a finesteride non-responder but found topical dutasteride to be effective.
