When does fianasteride stop your hair loss?

I have been on finasteride for nearly two months now. I started on a 0.625 a day dosage, but then moved it up to 1.25 a day dosage. I got no side effects on the 0.625 dosage, but I did get a little bit of ball ache on 1.25 for the first couple of days i started (like it would only come like for a few seconds a day, then nothing at all for the rest of the day). Other than this small thing, I have not experienced any other side effects.

The amount of hair I have been losing in the shower has still been the same amount that I was losing prior to starting finasteride. I have also been using ketoconozale 2% shampoo every other day for four months.

My question is when can I expect the finasteride to cut down the amount of hair I am losing?

I am planning on starting minoxidil 5% next week due to the lack of a response I have bee having with the finasteride.

You likely won't see any progress on finasteride after only 2 months. It's supposed to only start working after about 3 months, and you should notice improvement around 9-12 months. Just make sure you don't get discouraged, and that you continue to take it. It takes time.

How do you know how much hair you've been losing? Do you have a hair trap that you put in the bathtub so that you can see what gets caught? And I don't mean the metal ones with large holes, I mean a plastic one with tiny holes so no hair gets through.

Also, here's a picture of my regrowth. Picture on the left was after being on finasteride for 14 months, on the right is after almost 4 years. I just takes time. PATIENCE!!

It takes time to grow how and it wont happen overnight. You are not going to see a cosmetic difference after 2 months. More like 12 months.

I am not talking about a different that can be observe for the hair on my head. I am talking about a difference in the amount of hair I am losing. So far, there has not been any difference, if anything I am losing slightly more than when I started (though this could be for seasonal reasons).

I am a NW2, and many others at that stage reported that finasteride at least cut down on the amount of hair they were losing at this point. I am seriously dreading that the finasteride I have received was expired.

Its a generic from Walmart. They only placed the pills until a transparent orange medicine bottle. I don't know how long they had their generic finasteride pills in their pharmacy so I don't know whether Walmart is lazy and forgets that medicine has an expiration date.
