When Does dutasteride Kick in?

Been on dutasteride for nearly 3 months now ... was on finasteride for 9 mo before that.

Taking .5/day ...

Seeing a few new hairs around my widows peak, but overall im still thin. Im a diffuse thinner and i dont think ive regained anything since my initial finasteride shed ...

Just curious as to the average recovery time others are seeing ...

Duta inibits Alpha 5 Reductase type 1 thath is expressed in sebaceous glands and in the keratinocities. So, if this inibition is too strong, in some genotypes, the hairs appears very dry (like straw) and without body because sebum an keratina are destroyed...
Stop all 5 Apha Reductase inibitor to 3/4 weeks, wash your hairs once a week with a oil shampoo (it's hard but it is necessary) and take Omega 3.
When your hair turned in normal condition try with 0,1mg Duta everyday or 2caps (0,5mg)/week...

It's only a dosage problem...
With 0,5mg/day my skin in very dry and irritable, ocular dry, very dry lips...
It's too much for me...
I've stopped Duta and my hair and my skin turned normal in 2 weeks, then I've tried with 0.1 Dutasteride and I've obtained great results, better than finasteride...
Everyone have a different expression of 5alpha reductase type 1 and the suppresion of this enzyme may caused this problem...

Had a shed between months 6 and 8 from which it took the crown and mid-scalp about 8 months to fully recover (they continued to improve after this). For the front it was more like a year after the shed had ended before I got back to baseline, and it didn't really improve any more than that; on the plus side I still have as much hair at the front as when I started taking .5mg dutasteride per day, way back in August '04.

Well, for me it's grown hair like crazy, unfortunately it's also grown boobs

There was a member called JayMan who is now banned. He was on dutasteride and had before/after shots. Very impressive they were too.

Keep going. These things take time to work. I've been on minoxidil since March, finasteride April-July, dutasteride July-now and I'm only just seeing noticeable results now.

im diffuse

i dont have a spot i can target, per se

and i think that many ppl on dutasteride are also on minoxidil and thats not an option for me

i will give it time, but i still attribute thier regrowth to things other than dutasteride

thats just me. i hope the meds prove me wrong

Timi, ive used dutasteride without Minoxidil and got great results.

But i got some side effects.


Timi, try using Aromasin ( estrogen inhibitor ) with dutasteride and you most likely wont have the water retention or puffy face.


If your face is swolen, then you are ALLERGIC to dutasteride.
