For all that have regrown hair, I'd like to hear how you noticed that you were regrowing hair? What were the early signs? Im sure it didn't automatically just appear thicker. Did you guys notice fuzzy vellous hairs along the hairline, then they turned terminal down the line? How exactly does it work out?

for me it was one hair that did it...i noticed one hair...ver thin and unpigmented and short...almost a vellous haor but ot quite. It was abot 1 cm below my hairline right in the middle. It eventually tirned terminal. That was when i knew that the treatment would give me some regrowth. That it did. I noticed that har about 2 months ina...and at about 6 it turned dark black.

Well i hope you got more than one hair from all your efforts...

I think the best way to notice is to leave it and not analyse it everyday. Its like going to a holiday house 6 months later and the grass it suddenly noticeably long... if you had been there the whole time you wouldn't notice such a dramatic change in the grass.

Pluss watching grass grow is like watching paint dry.

what melbs said may indeed be true. However, early on in the treatment however, just about EVERYONE inspects their hair countless times a day. Seeing dark hair where there had been no hair for 5 years, and thinking that the hundreds of other visible hairs were going to turn that thick really boosted my spirits. This totally put my mind at ease, and instead of being neurotic and worrying about hairloss 24/7...i started to do stuff and be myself. It was a world of difference. I see no problem wth chgecking on results (as long as its not constantly)...its really made my last 6 months a LOT better than the 6 before that.

PS: I actually noticed the small hairs growing AFTER i stopped fretting and inspecting non stop. Good luck!

what concerns me though, is that these hairs are popping up on my forehead where I have NEVER had hair before in my life. I had at best a Norwood 2 hairline all my life and these hairs (if they go terminal) would give me a Norwood 0 hairline. Can that actually happen?

Ive had these vellus hairs come up also. Bad side to it, mine never became terminal, and continued to fall after regrowing :-x

how long have you been on your regimen?

I tell you though, the one place I have noticed regrowth is right above the ears and closing in on the corner of the V. How do you describe the hair on the sides above the sideburns that pushes forward towards the face? Like what Bruce Willis has. He is bald, but those sides looked great. For the longest time, that side hairline always went straight down pretty much and I see darker hair 'pushing' forward.

how long have you been on your regimen?

Have been on dutasteride since september 2004.
minoxidil since March 2005 (is what helps me grow vellus hairs)
spironolactone July 2005
nizoral March 2005

so you didn't notice vellus hair BEFORE getting on minoxidil, correct?

Ok, I've been on dutasteride for 2 months now. I was on propecia for nine years with results of "maintaining" until the last two years. I have felt a massive increase in "buzz feeling" type hairs on the top of my head. At my receeding hairline, I DEFINETELY see many vellus hairs popping in. I think they are giving my hair over-all more volume by holding up my terminal hairs. It looks like my hairline is reshaping. I NEVER had these results with finasteride. I think this is pretty much AMAZING, and I have NO side effects.

You must have a whole of DHT running around in your head if it takes dutasteride over finasteride to see any kind of results. Each of my small very short vellus gets darker and stronger looker. 1000's of these little boogers.

Are you on dutasteride or finasteride? finasteride didn't "regrow" as much as it maintained, which it did a VERY GOOD job at.

I was idly fiddling with my hair 3 months into my regimen when I realised that it seemed much firmer at the front, and I noticed a small advance party which had created a small bulge in the hairline. I was pretty chuffed as I'm sure you can appreciate.
From then I've definitely noticed a filling in of temples, though it is damnably slow!
