When a friend brings up an issue with balding :(

Nobody has ever mentioned a receding hairline to me before and that makes the issue worse to me - you know its an actual problem when people feel they cant mention it

I was at a pub earlier with some friends and one of my friends said that she feels really sorry for my friend who is about a NW3 going on 4 (hes 20 so pretty bad for his age). She was sympathizing with him as if he had cancer and and I couldn't help but feel sad knowing that in a year or two people will be talking about me behind my back about how im going bald . I went out with that guy on a night out recently and every single group we spoke to had to point out that we all look like teenagers and he looks 10 years older, truly sucks.

I guess my hairloss isnt majorly obvious right now (norwood 3, i style the fringe) because I don't think she would have brought it up if she knew I was well on my way to going bald.. Has anyone else got any bad experiences?

If she really felt bad for him she could have given him a piece of pity P.

That's not the worst that can be said. Most of the time people just laugh about how weird he looks or act as if he somehow brought this upon himself

The reality of the situation is that hair loss is one of the first things people will talk about when it is happening to friends or family members. How many times have you over heard people talking about such and such friend who they haven't seen in ages and how much hair he has lost. It even happened to me. Last time I went to see my grandmother she told my sister: "I thought you said **** lost all his hair, he doesn't look too bad".

Technically cancer is better than balding because at some point you stop waking up to it every day

I stopped hanging out with people because I just end up being the butt end of jokes about going bald. Worst part is that I can't take finasteride. I just have to accept hairloss or hope a better treatment is released soon.

My friend pointed out my ****ty hairline. I think it's just what friends are supposed to do, a real friend won't let you walk out looking like ****. Friends are going to be the only people to mention it to you, and they're supposed to as long as they aren't dicks about it, they don't care what you look like.

i am at high school. I am norwood 3V and my friend is Norwood 3(we both are 18!!!!) and there's no single day without talking about hairloss at school. My peers even make laugh of my teacher who is balding too. But he's ~40 years old. Did i mention that we are the only one balding in my class? :sobbing:

that sucks dude I can't imagine balding in high school. I'm only managing in uni because attendance is somewhat optional. At the very least you have a friend who understands what you are going through

My aunt is the worse, every time I see her she mentions my hair. I tell you if she wasn't my aunt I wouldn't be taking this abuse without giving anything back.
