What's your FAVORITE Minoxidil?

My favorite is the cheapest and that's Kirklands from what
I've seen.

Since the active ingredient is the same can there really be
a big difference in results between the brands?

Seriously though they are all the same.They all contain the same ingredient. The only difference is the price and/or the percentage (2%/5%/12.5%/15%).

Go for the cheapest.

Unless you are talking about custom minoxidil formulations like Promox/Xandrox/Remox..

What if your local pharmacy had a sale on 2% Rogaine so that its price (per gram of minoxidil) were slightly cheaper than the 5% version of Rogaine? In such a case, which one would you buy?

I was using 5% Kirkland but since trying the foam, i wont be going back. The foam smells good and doesn't make my hair feel bad at all. It's great stuff.

Now all I need is results! :woot:

I would probably buy the 5%. I am sure that there is not much difference between the two pertaining to absorption and/or percentage and could probably use "slightly" more of the 2% (if at all) but would still opt for the 5%. I am a creature of habit.

Not me. I'd buy the 2%, and wouldn't even think twice about it.

BTW, it's certainly not out of the question that using 2.5 mL of the 2% solution instead of 1 mL of the 5% solution may be more effective at growing hair. Remember that study that found that a higher percentage of alcohol in the topical vehicle led to a greater penetration of minoxidil through the skin?

More effective than 5% Rogaine, on a mL-for-mL basis? Maybe.

I thought you said there is some sort of trade off : alchohol is a better vehicle but dries faster then ppg .
I think that if you use 2.5 mL of the 2% minoxidil it would irritate your scalp even if you are not that sensitive to ppg . maybe a better way would be to buy kirkland minoxidil , add alchohol diluting it to 2% and use 2.5 mL in every application .

There IS a trade off. The study found that the best combination of alcohol and propylene glycol to get minoxidil into mouse skin in their specific experimental protocol was 90% alcohol and 10% propylene glycol. Any proportion of alcohol higher than that or lower than that (among the combinations that they tested) was less effective.
