What's with this obsession with shaving your head?

A lot of people online (not here) have told me to just shave my head. This seems to be a common answer to balding these days. I have no desire to shave my head, though...
What's with this?

some people would look way much better with a shaved head than a wispy combover. when I hear people saying 'shave your head and live your life', I take that as in 'maybe shave your head to see if that looks suit you and if it doesn't, no worries hair will grow back'

Men naturally look good with a shaved head. It looks better sometimes than balding hair.

I would say if your rocking like a Norwood 4 or more with a comb over your way better of shaving it no doubt on that one.

Shaving is like trying to hide in plain sight, if that makes sense. By shaving, you are decreasing the contrast between hair and skin. Besides the fact that unless you are an old man, having a grown out horseshoe is widely viewed as "a pathetic attempt to hold onto your remaining strands." and so it becomes a matter of all or nothing. If your hair has forsaken you then you must kill it with clippers.

The worst balding look is when you have thick areas next to thin areas. If you shave your head there is not much of a contrast between the thick an thin areas.
