Ok , first off I'll be honest these pictures were taken with the flash on the camera which really makes my hair loss look a lot worse than it actually is , even though it is quite bad.

http://s305.photobucket.com/albums/nn232/JohnChayr/mEH/?action=view&current=1May12-08Flash.jpg

I've been shedding for about a year and a half. I'm 18.
Sort of on and off finasteride and minoxidil for the past year , which was probably a bad idea.
But , now I've come to the point where I am determined to tackle hair loss at full throttle.

My regime in the next week will be:

Minoxidil (Rogaine Foam) - 1x day
Finasteride (Proscar 1/4th) - 1x day
Centrum (Multivitamin) - 1x day
Nizoral (Shampoo/ DHT blocker) - 3x week
T-Gel Sensitive skin (Shampoo for scalp) - Every other day
CountryLife Maxi-Hair (Vitamin+Mineral) - 1x day

(Ingredients) of maxi-hair vitamins

Vitamin A (retinyl palmitate) 5,000 I.U., Vitamin C (as ascorbic acid) 200 mg, Vitamin E (as d-alpha tocopheryl acid succinate) 50 I.U., Thiamin (as thiamine HCl)(vitamin B-1) 30 mg, Riboflavin (vitamin B-2) 50 mg, Niacin (as niacinamide) 50 mg, Vitamin B-6 (as pyridoxine HCl) 50 mg, Folic Acid 400 mcg, Vitamin B-12 (as cyanocobalamin) 50 mcg, d-Biotin 2,000 mcg, Pantothenic Acid (as d-calcium pantothenate) 50 mg, Calcium (as calcium carbonate) 200 mg, Iodine (from kelp) 225 mcg, Zinc (as zinc amino acid chelate) 15 mg, Selenium (as Target Mins carriers) 50 mcg, Copper (as copper amino acid chelate) 1 mcg, MSM (Methyl- sulfonylmethane) 600 mg, L-Methionine (free form) 250 mg, Canola Fatty Acid Complex (source of unsaturated fatty acids, linoleic and oleic acids) 200 mg, Horsetail Extract (leaf/stem)(from 100 mg of a 2:1 extract) 200 mg, L-Cysteine (as L-cysteina HCl) 100 mg, Choline Bitartrate 50 mg, Inositol 50 mg, PABA (para-aminoben- zoic acid) 50 mg

Personally I think you're crazy for jumping straight into such an extreme regime. Why not just start with Propecia and see how you go? Give it 12 months and if you're not happy with the progress then add the Rogaine. There is no need to go all extreme. Often it can be quite a shock to the system with all these chemical changes in the body and i've heard of people on this forum going backwards not forwards after jumping on hardcore regimes straighy away. Just work it in slowly man.

By adding one thing at a time you can also keep track of whats actually working and whats not. You dont want to take all these things if you dont need them! Seems all rosey now, but in 2-3 years time you will feel the pinch financially and also emotionally by sticking to the regime (rogaine twice a day etc).

To be honest your hair is pretty ordinary for an 18 year old, so you're doing the right thing by jumping on the finasteride. The flash does make it look worse, but you still have receaded hairline which at 18 is worrysome.

Good luck with whatever you decide. Keep us posted.

Is it really that extreme of a regime? Rogaine and finasteride once a day , with multivitamins and nizoral?

Anyways I have an aggressive form of male pattern baldness , I really need to tackle it has hard as possible.

One thing that worries me the most is that I'm losing a lot of hair , not just on my scalp , but on my eyebrows, legs and pubic region? First thing I thought was that I could have a form of Hypothyroidism , but my blood tests have all come back good , even If I still think It might have something to do with it. I do get a sort of headache pain behind my eyebrows though and they have clearly thinned out over the past few months. I noticed 6 hairs at one pull on my eyebrow , though its not always like this.

i wouldnt use minoxidil yet personally you could end up dependent on it FOREVER, forever, forever forever....

theres also shedding and not being able to gauge whats working. id give finasteride six months. maybe
something else for maintenance on your hairline. flutagel's quite cheap thats what id look at.

that vitamin is also what the experts call 'a bit gay.' nothing in there will work mate.

I think you should go in with all the guns blazing. If you don't you'll just keep hitting yourself on the head later that you didn't do everything you could. But you should also start accepting your hairloss because sooner or later you will go bald.

So buzz down your hair really short and try the big 3. That's the most you can do.

Good luck.

Here's what I would change. I'd take a higher dosage of MSM & Vitamin C, and supplement the rest with a regular multivitamin, as well as omega 3. Also, w/ finasteride or minoxidil, just be conscience of what your body is telling you. Playing with your hormones is always scary, especially long term and for vanity no less. Everyone's body reacts to meds differently. The rest looks pretty good in my opinion, good luck

How much MSM should be taken in your opinion? I'll just add those 1000mg Vit-C soluble tablets anyways...

Also , why is it that the sides of my head ( around my ear ) are effected by male pattern baldness? Most older male pattern baldness sufferers seem to have kept their sides?

And what about green tea extract and L - argienne or however you spell it?

Your starting minoxidil and find which is good but is all the other stuff really needed? ill be honest ive no idea what most of that other stuff is but from what Ive have seen on this forum, people get results from finasteride and minoxidil not multivitamins.
Though I could be wrong

i think we need to make some sort of poll to ban metalheaddude from giving out advice on this board.

I would argue that with the mere thought of taking a drug which can give you unrepairable side effects, the least you can do for your body is give it the proper nutrition/vitamin intake. With that said, MSM is an anti-inflammatory sulfur based product that is found in high protein foods. The body will use the sulfur it needs and flush the rest. Your vitamin C should match your sulfur intake for best results. It is argued MSM is great for hair b/c of this cleansing property.

Or you can just eat cheeseburgers, drink liquor, smoke cigarettes, get 3 hours sleep a night, and take minoxidil and finasteride. I think if cyanide stopped male pattern baldness some people would try to figure out how much they could take before it killed them.

Hey man, Im no hair expert but I have your pattern of loss and aswell as the symptoms (thinning eyebrows, pubic hair, eyelashes) , I think it could be DUPA (Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia) I got my bloods checked because at first I thought it was a thyroid issue, but they came back fine. Any success with finasteride?
