What's going on with my scalp? Baldness or something else?

Hello!

I am so worried about my hair. When I was a teenager, my hair was long, curly and fluffly. I had a lot of hair on my head! But, when I was 19, just over one summer, my hair turned thinner. Now, I am 25 years old, and since 6 years my hair has been thin more or less.

No one in my family have baldness. My father is 60 and have very thick curly hair. Even my grandfather on mother’s side, who passade away 75 years old, had thick hair (Fantastic!?). All my brother’s have thick hair, and no problem with baldness runs in the family on both sides.

What can be the reason for my thin hair? When I was young, I did not like my curly hair, so therefore I straighten the hair every day. Can that cause problem in the scalp?

My hairline is exactly the same now as It was when I was young. I have low hairline and it is low now also.

I asked 3 hairdresser, but none of them could for sure tell what is the reason for my hair loss. I would preciate if you could tell me what you think about my hair. I will post some photos of my hair in different conditions.

Many thanks!

finasteride

Go to the doctor and get a prescription for Finasteride.

Get a pill cutter and cut each pill into 4 pieces.

This will remedy your problem.

I have yet to see pictures of a guy missing hair where he wonders what it could be where it wasnt just male pattern baldness. Maybe male pattern baldness someday will have categories or something once more is learned but it certainly isnt yet. Yeah what he said go see the Doctor and use the propecia or just accept life with less hair.

male pattern baldness diffuse thinner
Ok, but how can I have male pattern baldness if none in my family has it? Also took a DNA test, and I had a decreased risk of male pattern baldness (Only 30% of worlds population have decreased risk)

Also strange, it is the same for 6 years, dont go any worse. I've reed that male pattern baldness are getting worse by time?

But what is strange; It is the same for 6 years... Not worse or better (Well i remember periods of better hair, but can be good haircut also...).

If I can have this hair whole life, I will be happy.=)

male pattern baldness, diffuse patterned alopecia. My hair looks more or less the same.
It doesn't matter really whether you have a strong history of male pattern baldness or not, even if there is 1% chance, it can still fall on you.

If it wasn't male pattern baldness you wouldn't be diffusing in a horseshoe pattern, simple.

That being said, do you have dandruff and/or an oily/inflammed scalp ? It can aggravate the symptoms of male pattern baldness if left untreated.

Aaand, have you had your thyroid checked ?

Finasteride to maintain, minoxidil to regrow, and nizoral is optionnal but a good addition to a regimen.

Your hairline doesn't have to recede for it to be male pattern baldness, It can be thinning to with no recession. My hair thinned first like your's (but not as bad) at 16 but I hadn't receded yet and then at 17 the recession started, The thinning continues to get worse now 19

I only saw one doctor in my country, and he did not think it was to much... said I should not stress and asked if I would see the psychologist... Mybe, the day I was my hair with shampoo, most of my baldness is hiding because my hair is so frizzy. And it is only with flash light on the camera the bladness shows. And i am very tall, so most people never notice anything. One friend recently said "You will never go bald, we can see that on your face and hairline".. and I just thought "Yeeah right...". No but I said thanks, but inside, was very worried. Afraid everything changes fast.

Have not made any thyroid test? Can that cause hair loss?

Ok I see.
Well, I remember that my hair changed when I was 16-17, I become more like baby-fine hair. And then thinner on top 19 years old. And nothing has happened since then. I am 25 now. No receiding hairlines at all.

Hypothyroidism can cause hair loss, among other things.

Most of the times, hair loss in men means male pattern baldness, but in a minority of cases it's a symptom of an underlying medical condition.

Don't dream too much though, it's most likely male pattern baldness, and your doctor is a moron.

Oh ok. Because of no family history of baldness and my thinning do not follow the typical male pattern baldness steps i was sondering..
Soon I have to trim all my hair...

Are you a hair doctor/or have expertis on this?

Diffuse thinning which you have is pretty typical as well look around here there are guys who suffer the same thing. If your entire head is going or your losing in a odd pattern like circles or really patchy then ya its probably something else.

yeah, I have noticed diffuse is most common with people with low forehead.. Dont know if there is any connection.

Will diffuse thinning make me bald? I have read that diffuse thinning not so often results in definitely baldness.
