it started with telogen effluvium when i was 16 and i think now it has progressed into male pattern baldness

my dad keeps saying "no it isnt genetics, no it isnt, for 1 year now and all i see is it is getting worse"

my dad starting going bald at like 25
my brother started losing it at 17 and now he's 20 and it's pretty bad

my mum tells me i have her hair (my hair is curly and thick like my mothers, my brothers hair is like my dads, thin and straight)

i dont want to be in denial and let it get worse

i have a line bald spot, like a bald line spot in the back, i have a receding hairline on the right side, and i have lost a lot of hair on the sides of my head and the back, literally the sides of my head mainly the right side. also my hair is thinning quite a lot.

what is a good remedy and would it be dangerous/effective at a young age? my parents have no idea what i am going through and i am just starting college, not even in uni yet and i already have to face this :(

Finasteride.

If you're old enough to lose hair, you're old enough to start on finasteride (unless you're one of the few that starts at like age 14 LOL)

Post pics first mate. It doesn't really sound like male pattern baldness (I mean, a "bald line" spot? you know even children have that on their vertex, right?)

If you take finasteride when you don't even have male pattern baldness it will only make it worse.

Post some pics.

i think i do have male pattern baldness because my right hairline is receding a lot and ive lost a lot of hair overall

my dad and mum keeps saying its normal itll all get better but it wont theyre just making me waste time till it gets even worse

should i just start on propecia and a keto shampoo/

how much mg finasteride should i take a day?
how often should i use the keto shampoo and which one?
what shampoo do i use on days when i dont use the keto one
where should i buy the finasteride (online?) and how much for how long?

should i expect a massive shed (dont want this as im still in college and cant cope with it getting worse)

do young people (17/18) respond well at all to these treatments?

also, how long should i expect to stay on propecia? 10 years if i respond atall?

thanks guys, please answer these im really confused :/

Have you finished puberty? (serious question; if you haven't and you take finasteride, it can delay your puberty)
I usually get my finasteride from inhouse

but you need to be sure you actually have male pattern baldness before you start treating it. Imagine if you took meds to treat high blood pressure if you didn't have high blood pressure? or meds to stop the production of stomach acids if you had nothing wrong with your stomach? It would do you more harm than good - the same is the case here.

ive been diagnosed with telogen effluvium by 2 trichologsists, my dermatologist and GP, it all started when I suffered from severe Body Dysmorphic Disorder, and i ate a lot of junk food, locked myself in my room and just wanted to kill myself.

2-3 months later I noticed extreme shedding, over 200 a day, just constantly. The shedding has slowed down extremelly (from losing say 100 in the shower I'll lose less than 15 now) but it's rough going college with this.

Also my ferritin (iron) levels were very low (around ~30 and I had low vitamin D)

Here is what my hair was like just 7 months ago

i dont know whether to start propecia, my trichologists keep telling me that the shedding is going down and to wait for it to get better, but my hairline is receding aswell and it's just so depressing :/

Your hairline seems a little receded to me so I reckon it is indeed early signs of male pattern baldness. You should consider using an antiandrogen like finasteride or if you are too scared of sides, you could acheive maintanance with topical spironolactone cream. If you use topical spironolactone and aren't satisfied with regrowth, add MIN in there too.If you experience itching, inflammation, etc Nizoral should definitely be in your regimen too.

I have seen plenty of guys who try everything but they are finally forced to accept that finasteride is the best possible treatment and those who want to save their hair, eventually settle with finasteride for treating male pattern baldness.

Unfortunately some of the topical antiandrogens which are reasonably-greatly effective[Fluridil and RU] are a little too expensive at the moment[especially RU] and since you all treatments for hairloss are on a permanent basis, you would need be extremely rich or be willing to spend a fortune on them on them as long as you want your hair.

I dont think it is Telogen Effluvium and yes you can maintain and regrow with finasteride and nizoral for a long time.Relax don't let it affect you too much.I was there in your shoes but I had a severely receded hairline[NW3 hairline with solid crown] that totally limited my styling options and I grew long hair covered my temples & wore a cap during windy and rainy days.Come to think of it,this affected the way I performed in Uni and I really regret this.

Start the treatments soon so that you can put this all behind you and move on with your life.We just get one chance to be 17/18 and I advice you to make good use of it. :)

thanks man

im worried because people tell me to get an expert opinion before starting treatment and I did with different trichologists and dermatologist and they keep saying its telogen effluvium because I've lost a lot of hair from the sides and because it is so severe and sudden

But I have a great feeling it is male pattern baldness (receding hairline, bro is 20 and balding etc) and I want to start fina and nizoral now, but I'm worried it could make things worse :/

Can you just answer these questions for me, would help soooo much an put my mind to rest a bit:

- If I start nizoral and Fina at age 17.5, could I experience a big shed? (because I'm not allowed to wear a hat in my college and really don't want it to get any worse)

- Where can I buy Fina (online, cheaper?) and Nizoral

- How often do I use nizoral, and what do I use on days I don't use nizoral? What % aswell

- Do young people react better to meds or is it random?

- With nizoral and Fina alone could I maintain reasonably well and possible regrow any on the hairline?

- Do I need to use minoxidil?

Thanks =/
