What you do think about HairClub or Bosley?

Hi all,
I'm looking into getting a hair transplant for myself. After more than 6 years of "who cares" attitude, I realize that I've been wasting my time and now my hair is way too thin.

Anyway, I'm new to this forum and the information that I get from here is way too much for me. Different people say different thing. I'm not saying that they are lying but I guess different methods work for different people.

So, I currently live in Oregon. It would be better for me if I can find a doctor / surgeon here locally. However, I wouldn't mind to travel out-of-state since it's gonna be a quite a bit of investment anyway. Mind as well getting myself to the best hand. Any suggestion / recommendation for me in term of seeking a good doctor?

What about the Hairclub or Bosley? I've seen them advertise on TV a lot but I'm so sceptical about them. Does anyone have any experiece with them? Pros / Cons?

Well, any information that you can help me is greatly appreciated. You know how it feel to see your hair receed everyday and how hopeless / depress it can be just to read people's postings. Yeah... it motivates me when I read people's success stories but at the same time, I feel very down when there are so many options that I don't know where to start. By the way, I've tried all the stuffs over the counter: shampoo, lotion, pills, etc.. you name it... Just getting tired with all of that and hair transplant is the only hope for me.

Thank you all again and have a great day

You are right to be skeptical about Bosley or any other chain. Stay away from them for you own good! They are all about marketing over quality. Go to a reputable independent surgeon like the ones recommended on this site. There are a handfull of good doctors along with many bad and even a few butchers. So be very careful.

Go to someone like Dr. Shapiro, Dr. Rose or Dr. Keene (my doctor). They do an excellent job and on top of that are generally cheaper than the chains. The chains will mess you up. Stay away. Just do some google searches on Bosley. You'll see.

I cancelled a recently scheduled transpant with Bosley. Thankfully some last minute research made me reconsider. Bosley has been likened to the pizza hut of the transplant industry. Just because everyone knows the brand does not mean they are the best; or even close to the best.

The primary reason I decided against Bosley is they insist 1200 is the maximum number of graphs that can be placed on the frontal region. Thus necessitating two procedures for results I'm looking for. A lot of Doctors disagree, and it is hard to get conclusive evidence either way.

Do your research !

baldguy,

Take your time at this. Don't rush into ANY decisions regarding surgery until you can come up with enough talented and ethical choices like in California (southern) alone. That is not too far from you and neither is Arizona if you want to consider Dr. Keene. The airfare should be relatively affordable.

You mentioned pills but which ones? Did you take Propecia "as prescribed" for at least one year or more? Did you experience any success with that or minoxidil?

Ha, ha, that hair club story is funny!!!!! I know because not only am I a balding man but I am also I client, or was...

That experience is dead on to what they do to you.

Speaking as someone who has experienced Bosley and Hair club for men. I would stay away from the both of them.
