Hello all - Very long time lurker, first time poster. So, here is my story...I'm in my mid 30's. I started losing hair in the crown area in my early 20's so I immediately went on Propecia and Rogaine. To make a long story short, I stopped taking both by the time I was 30 for different reasons (Rogaine liquid was messy, Propecia killed my sex drive). Fast forward 5 years of not using anything and my coverage in the crown area is probably down to 15%. For what it's worth, I went back on Rogaine foam, which seems to have at least halted the loss. The rest of my hair is very thick with a little bit of the front receding, but not much. This is good and bad. The good news is that you wouldn't think I was losing my hair if you didn't see the crown. The bad news is that the contrast between the crown and the rest of my hair is ridiculous.
I use concealers like Toppik daily, but it's getting harder to use them as I don't have much hair for the fibers to cling to anymore. If I take my time with concealers, I can cover it up to the point where you would never know. But eventually I'll have no hair there and that's my concern. My closest loved ones will think I went from having a thick head of hair to a giant bald spot over night. That's part of my motivation for shaving now while I still have some hair there. I'd also just not have to deal with all of this anymore. I'm thinking that once I adjust to not having hair, it'll be great. Just shower and get out of the house? That sounds wonderful. I know I rambled a bit. I'm just looking for any thoughts/advice. Hopefully someone has been in a similar situation. Thanks.
