Before I start taking medication for my thining I would like to see a doctor so that they can do test to see if everything is ok. Should I go see a regular family doctor or should i go to a dermatologist or a different type of doctor? Also what type of things should they be testing for? Thx

Some do say its a good idea to get your hormone levels checked before starting finasteride.
While a dermatologist is generally the one to prescribe finasteride (as hair is part of the epidermis), I don’t think they would be the one to go to for that. Just call your health care provider and explain what you need and they'll know who to set you up with.
