So is your hairloss Paternal or maternal or maybe both or simply not genetical in your case?

I am actually expecting to see that most people have it from their father, since I actually think it's the PATERNAL gene that is dominant in most cases, but maybe i'll be surprised :=)

This is my first post...

I'm 22 as of roughly 2 weeks ago. I have a receded hairline an and recently noticed a lot of diffuse thinning in the front area. You can see a clear line where the thinning stops and the scalp is no longer visible leading to what looks like a NW4a pattern. Anyway....my mother's father died in his late 80s with a full head of hair. Both of her brothers went bald early and their hair loss seems to be NW4a or NW5a. It's hard to tell where exactly their hair loss is now because my mom's one brother has shaved his head since as long as I can remember (but I've seen pictures of him in his 20s with a NW3a or 4a. My other uncle lives in Texas.

As for my dad's side. My father is one of three boys. His father began going bald in his late 50s and is now 76 almost completely bald. My dad has 2 older brothers. The oldest died 2 years ago but had a full head of hair when he died at 49 years old. The middle child began balding in his late 40s and is now 50 and I've noticed his hair loss get worse in the past year or two. My father unfortunately died in January at 46. He had the thickest curliest hair his whole life and never lost any of it. I actually shaved his head a few months before he died and it was nearly impossible to get the razor through and his hairline was perfect.

Sorry for all the details but I'm just telling you what I know. I assume my hair loss is from my mother's side because the type A variant seems to go with my mother's side and so does the early hair loss however I suppose it could be both considering my dad's father and brother both experienced balding. For the record, my dad's father and brother both have blonde straight/wavy hair. My dad has thick black SUPER curly hair like my Italian grandmother. Not sure what this means but draw your own conclusions.

paternal.

why didn't my mother marry a man with good genes?!! :sobbing:

I've thought about this before as well, but you do realise you wouldn't be born if your mother had married and given birth to the child of another man?

You were a little swimmer in your dads sack, not some other blokes! :)
