What Should I Expect From Finasteride?

Hey everybody. I'm 18m and I've just taken my first pill of finasteride. I'm planning to take the 1mg pill 3 times/week, so that I won't get sides. My current hair situation isn't that bad, but I felt like starting sooner rather than later. The only problem areas that I could identify are my temples, more so the one on the right side. The hairs there seem to grow a bit slower than other hairs on my head and they're also thinner and lighter in color, therefore I can easily see scalp even after I wash and dry my hair. I now have a buzzcut and there's a clear shape starting to form if I stand in good lighting, the McD hairline.

I posted some photos down below. Regarding family history, my dad has big temples, and until a few years ago(he's 68), nothing else really. Now it seems that all the hair on his head is starting to become thin, including donor area hair. My paternal grandfather has surprisingly good hair (better than my dad), with only like a NW3 at more than 90 years old and good density. My maternal grandfather had really good hair in his 20's, then he started losing it and had his hairline pushed back to the middle of his head, but no crown thinning. So basically most of my relatives had temple/hairline recession but not that much going on in other regions.

My question is: can I expect these hairs to thicken? Or should I expect some maintenance only? Thanks in advance

This goes for any hairloss drug. Expect nothing so you don’t get disappointed.

Historically finasteride has just maintained. So odds are you’ll just slowly lose the thin parts you currently have. Or perhaps maintain them for a very long time. Or perhaps regrow, you do not know.

However expect less so you can receive more.

Hey what’s your full hairloss regime minus Finasteride? You can have better results by adding Ketaconazole shampoo like Nizoral or Regenepure DR/Derma Roller/Minoxidil/laser Helmet and the lost could go on for a few more products to assist in more regrowth. Also remember to stick with the same brand products you use from day one, including Finasteride.

I used to use Saw Palmetto and Siberian Ginseng, but not anymore, or at least not as frequent.

Ok, thanks, it seems I need to adjust my expectations :)
