What should I do? Finasteride journey

Hey all, you may remember me from this site, used to post every single day.. I left for good time because finasteride seemed to be halting my hair loss. It's never been perfect, but when dry usually have coverage. I have diffuse thinning, even though balding doesn't run in my family. Been on Finasteride for 17 months, 1.25mg a day and it's helped my hairline but 0 scalp regrowth has occurred. Taking pictures now, my hair seems to be worse though.

When combed, my diffuse thinning can be hidden and make my hair appear normal, even thick, but it's an illusion.. Should I stay on Finasteride for 6 more months, and if it gets worse switch to Dutasteride.. or stay in Finasteride and introduce Minoxidil ASAP? I don't wanna stay on Finasteride if it's not working and introduce minoxidil because then the actual problem isn't being tackled hence waiting 6 months to verify is smart but risky.. and I don't wanna jump on minoxidil at 22 years of age, would rather wait till I am older and more financially stable to afford a lifelong commitment of 170 dollars every 3 months.

Also todays dry photos, that is when my hair is dried straightened.. If I dry my hair normally, let it be curly, not AS much scalp will be shown.. if needed I can give an example later. But I purposely made it straight to mimic the same photo in 2021 to give a more accurate showing.
