What Norwood would you say I am?

The reason I ask is I was told on another site that it looked like I was in the early stages of hairloss. My hair is very thick but I'm afraid I may be receding.

Temple 1

Temple 1 Version 2

Temple 2

One side of my hairline is much wider and rounder than the other side. I'm 18.

I always thought I saw people my age with worse hairlines and they didn't seem to be losing their hair...now I'm not so sure.

My hair hardly sheds at all. When I do find a stray hair, it is the same thickness all the way through.

Does look like the start of it all, but don't worry I had about the same around age 18 and only in the past year (when I was 27) did it finally go to a NW2 and I started to show some thinning. So basically you got at least a few good years of hair left in you. Might wanna go see a dermatologist in another few years to get it checked on and if it starts progressing then worry about it. For now though you could easily ride it out till more effective treatments are available.

Thank you for the help. :)
That sounds similar to what happened to my dad. He receded to a NW2.5 (temples receded very far and very thin and small forelock) when he was 18, then stabalized until he was about 29. Then he got a bald spot on his crown and it progressed from there. At least I'm better off than he was at 18, plus I have much, much thicker hair than he did.

The stressful thing is my maturnal grandfather had the same hairline I do at 18, but he kept it like that all his life. I don't know what to expect and it's freaking me out. :/

I should probably note that the hair below my temples has always stuck out. It's much closer to my face than the rest of my hair which makes the recession stand out a bit.

If you dont notice any hairfall then there is nothing to worry for the time being. My hairline and density looked exactly like yours when I was 15 even my right temple was rounded and looked receded to my eyes,it was round about that time I started sprouting body hair and things started going downhill for me till I was about 18 and a half.My left temple also receded and my overall hair density decreased as well.I started taking multivitamins and adopted a healthier lifestyle and so far so good I have managed to keep it under control.

My advice to you would be-Dont get too stressed or obsessed about your hairline now and go ahead have fun in life :punk:...If you do notice any hair shed, react immediately as you would easily be able to maintain what you got right now.

That's very, very reassuring to hear. Thank you. :)

Would losing 8 hairs in the shower be considered a lot? Every time I touch my hair in the shower I look at my hand and check to see if any hairs came out. Some days it's 0, some days it's 5 (this seems to be the average) and occasionally (like today) it's 8.

Would that be considered too much?

8 is like totally normal dude...Take proper care of yourself like getting 8-9 hrs of sleep, well balanced diet and a bit of exercise and you would have nothing to worry about. :)

In case you think about this all the time you can take pics of yourself once in every 6 months just to keep track of it.BTW do any of your family members have male pattern baldness ?

That's a relief to hear. :]

Everyone on my dad's side of the family start balding really young. My dad's temples were receded really far by 18 and his forelock was very thin and small. It stayed like this until he was about 29, he developed a bald spot then eventually lost most of what he had left on top, though his sides never dropped. Both of his brothers were pretty much bald right after high school (around 18 or 19.) All the men on that side of the family seem to be pretty bald by the time they're 26 or so.
No one on my mom's side of the family ever goes bald. They usually recede a tiny bit around 18 then stay that way their whole lives. My grandfather died with probably the thickest head of hair I've ever seen on someone his age.

I'm a little relieved that I'm at least better off at 18 than anyone on my dad's side of the family ever was. It's nice to hear there doesn't appear to be much to worry about for now. I've been worrying about this for about 3 and a half years so hopefully I can finally move past it.
