Big Three:

1) Finasteride (propecia)
2) Minoxidil (regaine/rogaine)
3) Nizoral Shampoo

The only two that have been FDA approved for treatment are finasteride and minoxidil. That means they've gone through extensive clinical testing, and that the statistical results showed that they can be effective for treatment. It also means that they are probably safe...with few side effects in most cases.

Why no minoxidil? I've been on finasteride and minoxidil with great results and no problems. Have not yet started Nizoral shampoo.

Dude minoxidil didn't work as well or at all because it does not stop the advancement of male pattern baldness, now that you have an AA in you, you should try minoxidil. It will work better.

Also, how long have you been on finasteride? If it's less than six months, don't expect to see anything.

How come you need your entire scalp covered? Just the top...or the WHOLE thing?

I've only used minoxidil on my crown. And a littttle bit on my temples...I usually run the "extra" thats on my fingers through the front of my hair. It's not really supposed to work there (minoxidil at temples). But I figure why not, it's extra.

I don't know if you're on finasteride right now...but if you can do it, I would highly recommend it. Either the brand name propecia, or a legit source of the generic.

I started with the minoxidil first...and it slowed my loss for a few years, but it kept getting worse. Since I've started the finasteride, it's gotten better. My crown is literally filling in.

So I'm doing the finasteride/minoxidil treatment right now, and I'm really happy with my results.

Oh, my bad. You were the original poster. You are on Finasteride. Yea, if you can couple that with the minoxidil, you might see good results. I would go with the foam. The regaine/rogaine foam and just run it through your hair like you would hair gel.

That is bullshit... They are not just allowed to say that it work there since they dident monitor that area on the trials. If you got loss in front apply there too. For some people it even work better at front than crown
