So I'm 19 years old right now. I first started to notice thinning around February 2017, which was after I tried applying minoxidil to my face in order to grow a beard. I started noticing more hair falling out, so I stopped. I thought that this was just due to a shed, but it continued and has been. Now, my hair is significantly thinner and I can see that there are a lot more gaps between hair follicles. The weird thing is that the hair all around my head has been thinning, including the back and sides. However, my hairline hasn't changed and is still NW1. There are two possibilities to this. Either I have male pattern baldness, which is probably the case, or some other condition has been causing this. I am a college student right now and I don't have a lot of time to spend on these kinds of things, so I was wondering what kind of doctor I should see regarding this? A hair loss specialist? A dermatologist? A GP? In fact, I went to a dermatologist about this before and they just looked at my hair and said it was fine, but I truly know that my hair has been thinning. I know that there are various conditions that could cause diffuse hairloss. However, I don't know what kind of doctor will be able to help me out the most in this situation.
