What kind of doctor should I go to? Is it male pattern baldness?

Hi folks,

I have recently noticed some thinning on the middle-top of my head (not frontal and not crown) and want to go see a doctor before assuming that it's male pattern baldness. I have heard that sometimes hair thinning could be a result of bad nutrition, etc... and I have been eating a lot of fast food junk over the past year and not taking my vitamins until recently.

I want to get a doctor's opinion before taking a drug that I'll be married to for the rest of my hair's life.

Should I see a dermotologist? ...or is there another type of doctor that specializes in hair loss? I visited Hair-Club for Men; but, they are just a bunch of salespeople.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. :)

He said "sometimes" which is actually true. As for Goats question, my best advice would be to visit your derm although I'm not sure because I never visited a doctor for questions about my hair. I would never do that because I feel like I would know more than he/she would and I doubt they would really care since hair loss isn't life threatening.

Its true most derms know less about m.p.b than the experienced posters on here.
